5*s from me - this ryokan was in a prime location for a couple who were only visiting Takayama for a a few days. The staff were super attentive and welcoming, the rooms were more than I expected and the overall experience was lovely.

There is a lovely onsen. The public one is free and it really is large and beautiful.- one for each gender. There's a private one too that mostly couples use. I don't remember the exact cost but it was not expensive.
