The Hida Hotel Plaza proudly displays its Landmark Hotel badge, citing its opening in 1972. Alas, nothing in the hotel has been updated since then, including the oh-so-thin towels. The "complimentary" water was a lukewarm pitcher in a non-functioning refrigerator. The breakfast "granola" was corn puffs mixed with cornflakes. Go elsewhere.

A nice hotel. All staffs are very friendly. Our group' s dinner set was so lovely and gave the feeling of Japan traditional. Onsen was good. Breakfast was okay, however can be better with more variety.

Hotel needs to be maintained better and rooms need to be upgraded. Rooms very small even with two twin beds. Barely room for two suitcases for two ladies. Bathroom - poor. Floor was metal as was the shower. Even though hotel has A/C, it was not available during our stay and room was extremely hot. Breakfast buffet okay. Location, not...

We had a wonderful time in this fascinating town. Excellent hotel too, great service and a lovely room. We had an excellent Japanese dinner too. The only slight let down was a busy and not very enticing breakfast.

This hotel is nothing to write home about. It has comfortable beds, hot water and free wi-fi, so the necessities are covered. But it's a bit shabby and, at least when we were there, the rooms were uncomfortably warm. The only way to cool off was to open the windows but there were no window screens, so mosquitos could enter...

Beautiful city view from the open air hot spring bath! We enjoyed our stay, nice meals and courteous staff. Japanese room was very big and clean. Close to the Nakayama station, morning market & old town.

It is very close to the station and easy to locate. We booked a double bed with breakfast. The room is able to open two small suitcases. The bathroom is much bigger than normal with both bathtub and shower. We selected Western breakfast which is good with more choice. It is easy to communicate in English at the front desk....

Enjoyed our stay, courteous staff and great location made up for any short comings. Be warned the French restaurant isn't French but a mixture of Japanese and Chinese. Didn't get to try the other restaurants as we were there only one night so can't comment. Very conveniently located to the station and walking distance to all you'd want to see.

Room was somewhat cramped. Electrical outlets few and badly placed (nothing near the bed for my breathing machine). I had an extension cord long enough to reach but we had to get tape from the front desk to tape it down so we wouldn't trip over it. Plumbing was very noisy. Only tea in the room. (No coffee). Breakfast buffet...

We took a JR-Hida Express train from Nagoya station (Platform #11) to Takayama station. The journey took 2 hrs 13 mins with four stops. On the way, we enjoyed the mountains scenery- with the exception of the first stop from Nagoya to Gifu was in the reverse direction. We came here during the winter and stayed here for 3 nights....
