We only stayed 1 night but would have loved to stay longer. This was our first Ryoukan experience and did not disappoint. Staff where so helpful and welcoming when we arrived. If in Masumoto you must stay here.

On the far edge of Matsumoto, we stayed in this lovely inn. Beautiful throughout, the key reason we chose it was the outdoor baths. Split into male and female, we could nonetheless chat easily enough. As it was on the outskirts, the view was of greenery on the hillside. Be aware that there is almost nothing in the vicinity in...

We had some really wonderful days at this royakan. Everyone are so welcoming and helpful with everything. They can adjust the stay in the way you want. Private Onsen are available for those who want to spend a perfect moment with their loved one.

My husband and I had a wonderful 3 nights here and I could have happily stayed there for longer. The staff were friendly and hospitality and went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed. The staff spoke less English than in other places we stayed although that added to the experience of the stay and...

Matsumoto is a lovely little town surrounded by mountains. This Ryokan is a perfect match. The building is full of traditional character. The onsen is good and there is a private onsen which can be booked. The food is excellent and is served course by course, and even includes some Western dishes. So put on your yutaka and get into...

This ryokan has some good features, the first one being that it's in Matsumoto (although a bus ride from the city centre) - a place well worth visiting and a highlight of our trip to Japan. There was a mess-up with our room in that we had booked a non-smoking room but were given a room that smelled of stale...

A great property ! Spacious and yet feeling private. The room was nice, the private bath felt like a treat, and the views on the small garden where just so special and relaxing. I regret spending only 1 night in this ryokan ! The staff does not speak much English, but that makes the experience even more real. Highly recommended.

We only stayed 1 night here but I wish we had more! The staff were so helpful and friendly - not too much English though, but that did not stop them from trying. The room was large and clean and very comfortable. We also tried the outdoor onsen. I would highly recommend staying here.

we upgraded to room with our own natural hot spring tub and it was totally worth it. also, every day we got the key for the private onsen which was amazing. the food was very traditional each day so as a foreigner, I enjoyed some of it (75%) but at times it was too different for me. overall loved this...

Arriving in Matsumoto by car, a backstreet warren is the last place you would expect to find a wealth of fine ryokan, but this property was an excellent discovery, 4km from the castle, and filled with outstanding food of the region - and sake, and multiple indoor and outdoor baths; they even allowed us to use the private family bath...
