This is a lovely friendly, family run place, who make you feel very welcome and are very helpful, starting from the free pick up from the station. Nice rooms in traditional style, with communal showers and hot tub. You can walk, cycle or take the bus to town, but there are local shops and eating places too, which can be...

This is a really nice inn, about 10 mins drive from the centre of Matsumoto. The family that run this are very friendly and speak great English. The rooms are Japanese style and very nice. Atsuko and her parents really made me feel welcome (100,000 times!) and gave me loads of advice about where to eat and things to do...

I think this is probably the best place to stay in Matsumoto. On arrival they had put out a little sign to welcome us at the entrance. As soon as we arrived a lady provided us with some brilliant hand draw maps of the area with some restaurant recommendations etc. We were shown to our lovely traditional Japanese room with...

My mother, sister and I stayed in this ryokan in December almost as a stopover on our way up to Hakuba from Kyoto. This was such a lovely place that we were very tempted to extend our stay here. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. We were given very clear instructions on how to arrange for a pick up...

This is a traditional Japanese guest house run by a family. The hosts are extremely helpful and did everything to make us welcome and comfortable. We were a large family group with small children, and stayed in the annex. It was spacious and comfortable, furnished in a traditional Japanese style. The annex has its own private toilets and cooking facilities....

When we arrived we organized the free train station pick up, which came in about 15 minutes, this is a lovely family run Ryokan. We stayed in the annex room, which was spacious, warm and had lovely views of the internal gardens. This room came with its own private toilet and the shower and was attached to the shared kitchen...

Visited Matsumoto for a couple of days. Stayed in this lovely Ryokan. Full Japanese experience. Great breakfast. Great communal (separate Male/female) bathroom with gorgeous hot water. But best of all was the friendly and helpful family owners. Our adult son had fallen previously and hurt his wrist. As a precaution we thought it best to go to a hospital and...

This is a nice place to stay, outside the centre and tourist areas, but still convenient to train station, city centre, old streets and castle by bus. Many local amenities very close to the Ryokan and easy to find using cute hand-drawn maps provided by the family. Breakfast is tasty and good value. Free train station pick-up and drop-off on...

We had a such a nice stay in Ryoken Seifuso, to be clear it is a traditional Japanese guest house so the rooms are simple and the bathroom facilities are shared but it's absolutely spotless. The owners are amazing, very helpful and friendly and dropped us off at the train station when we left, and gave us free use the...

I write with mixed feeling about this hotel. Good - The daughter is very friendly and well versed in English. She will tell you all the good place to eat. Room has great view of mountains and a river in front. Nearby are some restaurants and supermarket. They have free bicycles to let you roam around the city. Could be...
