We had seen information about the Castle online, but never was able to contact them for a reservation. Even triple A tourist info tried but were unsuccessful. We drove through Amsterdam but never saw the castle. I dont know how to rate it therefore! It must be closed now.

We are thrilled that we had the opportunity to experience this unique B&B. The unusual and eclectic decor combined with the warmth and vibrancy of Susan, our innkeeper, added a wonderful page to our "memory book" of our 8-day bicycle adventure on the Erie Canal trail. We loved reading the fascinating background of the castle as found in all the... More

Manfred and Susan were awesome hosts. Breakfast was great. Would recommend to everyone wanting to get away for the weekend. I wish we could have stayed longer. the castle is rich in history. The woodworking in the place was so truly amazing

My son turned eleven and for those of you who know the Harry Potter books, that's the birthday when wizards get their acceptance letters to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Yes, we could have gone to Florida for Universal and do the Harry Potter thing there, but we only had the weekend and we also wanted to do something... More

I booked the Castle as a surprise for my husband as part of a cross-country road trip. It took a bit of driving around town to find it, but when he saw it at the top of the hill he couldn't believe it! We loved everything about it...the history, the owners, the service, the decor...the dog! We would like to... More

This B&B is very cute and the rooms are huge. May fill up quickly though as there are only 2 rooms to rent. The owners were beyond friendly and kind. Overall Amsterdam Castle is a beautiful building and the room was adorable. The hotel provides organic soaps and shampoos and some nice robes. The only reason I didn't give this... More

I would like to move in to the Amsterdam Castle. Unusual statement, and one that might meet with some consternation on the part of the owners, but there it is. I was so impressed with what Susan and Manfred Phemister, the smart, funny owners, have accomplished with having taken on the behemoth of a building, creating (so far) their own... More

We stayed at the Amsterdam Castle for one night and wished that we could have stayed for a few more. The owners, the Phemisters, were so welcoming, and gave us a tour of the castle when we arrived. We stayed in the Officers' Wing and had a very large room. The room was very cool and unique because it had... More

We had such great experience staying at the Amsterdam Castle! Our room on the first floor was fastastic - separate sitting area, bedroom in the turret (tower?) and beautiful spacious bathroom. The room was clean and bright and cool for our summer stay. Fun exploring the castle - great having an indoor gym! Really enjoyed hanging out in front (porch?)... More

Amsterdam Castle is a wonderful B&B, in a city lacking outstanding accommodations. With only two suites, you have the full attention of your hosts. The suite we stayed in was beautifully restored, with furniture appropriate for a castle.(I suspect the other suite was equally outstanding.) Unlike in The Princess and The Pea, the bed was spectacularly comfortable. Breakfast was enormous... More
