I had surgery in Amsterdam and had booked the handicap room. It was spacious, clean and very safe, equipped with a no entry shower and many grab bars. Surgery ended up being more extensive than originally thought. I was not ready to travel. The hotel staff kindly extended our stay one day at a time until I was ready to leave. I also did not want to leave the room for housekeeping. The staff supplied us with extra towéls, garbage bags and whatever else we needed so I didn't have to leave the room. The breakfast procedures are designed to limit exposure to other guests and follow the Covid guidelines. We enjoyed coffee and cereal every morning and some goodies from the breakfast bags. I can't say enough good things about this hotel! I am so glad we chose to stay here during my surgery process. I will stay here again if traveling in the area!

Very clean facility and friendly staff. Wifi was very slow, this was of no impact to me as I was only there at nighttime and had reliable cell service. The new hotel pillows flatten the moment you rest your head on them, I've noticed this is a new trend for a lot of hotels.

Very clean facility. Staff very friendly, always friendly happy face. The facility is relatively new, on a main road, but very little traffic noise. Because of covid, there was no breakfast available, only grab bag and go.

I stayed at Microtel Amsterdam for one night and at Amsterdam Castle for one night during a cross-state solo bicycle trip in October during Covid, and enjoyed Amsterdam Castle SO much more! The Microtel is a brand new property and the Amsterdam Castle is a recently and totally renovated 19th century property, so both are new and clean in appearance, but the comparison ends there! Staying at Amsterdam Castle is truly a unique experience and I was very impressed by the warm welcome of its employees, the quality of the furnishings throughout, and the thoughtfulness of details that went into the renovations' design. The grand room lined with suits of armour, for example, reminded me of a Medieval Times experience, and I look forward to returning someday with my grandchildren. While I have no problem with staying at a modern cookie-cutter chain hotel when I have to, I'm so glad I had the opportunity to stay at this hidden "luxury" gem, the Amsterdam Castle! Meanwhile, my experience at Microtel Amsterdam was tainted by the manager's lack of customer relations skills and downright greediness. When I originally checked in on my bicycle, I said to the woman at the front desk that there was a rainstorm coming in all the next day, and that I would be staying over. She responded that as long as I paid before 11am checkout the following day, that there was no problem. It was a weekday in the off-season, and because she assured me, I concluded that I was secure in my Microtel stay. When I tried to pay early the next morning, however, the same woman told me that a large group had unexpectedly booked all vacant rooms and that I would have to leave. Upon again explaining my bicycle situation she called the manager, who informed me that he had indeed found a vacant room for me, but that it would now cost $140 instead of the $75 I paid the previous night due to "supply and demand." I explained that I was on a bicycle and that it was pouring rain outside - not to mention that I was already a paying customer, unpacked and occupying a room there - and that I would be willing to compromise and pay $100; his exact response was, "No, I can get more for the room." And so I packed up my belongings and peddled out into a rainstorm, only to find Amsterdam Castle less than five-minutes away. Ultimately I'm glad I didn't cave in to the Amsterdam Microtel manager's attempt at highway robbery, as I was able to enjoy a unique, and much superior, experience at Amsterdam Castle for almost $50 less! Btw while there was nothing wrong with the Microtel room itself, I will point out that the Amsterdam Castle room had a TV that was twice as big, the bathroom was easily 3 or 4 times larger (and had TWO sinks!), included a large assortment of in-room K-cup coffees and teas (compared to one regular and one decaf packet at the Microtel), and generally felt more luxurious and definitely more inviting.

Dear Polkaguy Thank you for taking time to share your experience with us. It is great to know that you liked the cleanness of our room and comfort it provided. unfortunately your experience with guest relations personnel wasn't great which i apologize for. Actually our room rates are based on occupancy and room type which changes everyday depending on availability and caused the rate to go up that day. I will take time to further investigate. Your comment help us to locate the issue and resolve them and that is invaluable so we appreciate it. We hope you will consider stay with us again in future. Thank you

Hotel only opened one month and everything clean and in great shape. There is a nice microwave and oversized mini fridge great to store food. Room well designed with cubbies and shelves to store items. We were in a Queen double room, beds very comfortable, plenty of towels, and room to store 2 adult bikes when not riding. Elevator large and easily accommodated 2 people, 2 bikes, wheel chair and another person in the Covid environment. Room had peephole to see out with a peephole cover so no one can see in...nice touch. Shower area large with really nice water pressure. Hotel just off 90 and quiet inside and no road nice from room. Didn’t really hear people in the neighboring rooms. Parking in nicely lit lot. Staff polite and helpful. We put our do not disturb sign on the door because we didn’t want room service while we were there. For bikers, you can bike on road from the hotel to the Erie Canal bike way. That’s about 3 miles depending on where you pick it up. I only like to ride off road so we drove 3 miles to Lorenzo’s Restaurant which shares the car park for the trail head. Plenty of spaces probably 20. It wasn’t filled. This location also had free air to fill your bike tires if needed. Another day we parked at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site and lots of parking there too. We preferred biking West and went as far as Fort Plain about 43 miles round trip. The bike trail is asphalt with dedicated biking bridges and a really nice ride. It was quiet. If you bike East the trail is under construction in about 9 miles from the Lorenzo’s car park. I would definitely stay again.
