We stayed just the one night at Jyumaisou and as the other reviewers have stated it is a wonderful place to experience traditional Japanese living. The couple that run the place ares so kind and we felt quite at home. I highly recommend this as the best place to stay in Shizuoka. We had the breakfast which was so delicious... More

The place is quiet, clean and cosy. The couple who run it are extremely friendly and attentive to your needs. Always ready to help, never obtrusive. I was given a lot of good advice, useful plans and leaflets of the nearby sights and on two separate occasions, I was even offered a lift by car. Breakfast was rich and delicious.... More

All reviews before mine praised enough already about how good the place is, which I can't agree anymore. Tidy and comfy room with a origami swan on the pillow as a welcoming gift(I guess). Japanese family style hotel (ryokan) located in a quite and peaceful residential area far away from busy city center but close enough to travel by car... More

Shizuoka is one of the ideal sized city which is closed to both the ocean and the mountains. You can reach by a bicycle easily as it is flat, no up and down. It might be a good change and relief for the traveller after the metropolitan cities. We are very happy to have your nice words towards us and... More

We had no idea what to expect as we booked to go to Shikuoka to get off the tourist trail a bit. We were not disappointed. The couple who run the ryokan are delightful and so helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. We both slept very well too. A mixture of peace and quiet away from the city... More

The middle-aged couple who runs Jumaioso are two of the genuinely kindest people we've met during our travels in Japan. The communication was thorough and their level of English was quite high. They took care of us from the start, lending bicycles, recommending amazing food spots, and serving up an incredible Japanese breakfast. Upon check-out, they offered to drive us... More

Our return visit to Jyumaisou & we were not disappointed. The hosts are a lovely couple who treat you to a warm & relaxed welcome. The traditional style japanese rooms with tatami mats & floor beds are clean & comfortable, with all the facilities you need. The japanese bath allows you to soak after a days exploring. The Family went out of their way to accommodate this 77 year old woman/solo traveler. Hiroko, The Lady of the House, always seemed delighted to hear my primitive Japanese and responded in excellent English! My tatami-floored room had all the modern conveniences, including a welcome refrigerator, and the bathroom was only one step down and "lefto" from the locked door... More
