Stayed for one night as I had an early flight the following morning and I didn't want to stay in some generic airport hotel. This is a charming ryokan in the lovely town of Narita. The Kirinoya is run by a very friendly family and the room was great - futon mattress on a bamboo matted floor. The facilities are...

Booked a room for overnight connection flight, and the hotel is better than I expected. Clean room with good bamboo smell, delicious local food, hospitable hotel owner, and some good tour sights in the area. I took a walk in the morning, went to the Shinjo Temple for a short visit, and enjoyed the peace of the town. It's a...

Stayed for 3 nights for sightseeing, a bit far from the station, but staff offer free pick up from the station. Love their family, great customer service. The food is not bad, nothing too special. The place is really clean.

On our way to Thailand we stayed in Narita City for one day/night. We stayed at Kirinoya Ryokan and really loved it. It was soooo Japanese. That was what I wanted and that was what I wanted my daughter to experience. The owners are a big extended family who pretty much include you. They're all just so friendly and warm....

This hotel is out of the centre of Narita. Standard of the rooms is little bit poor. But big advantage of this place is ryokan museum. Comparing these bad things with museum, it is worth to stay in this hotel. You can also book meals in hotel but it is nothing special.

Stayed one night while in transit to Cambodia. Lovely innkeeper who was quite responsive to email in the days prior to my arrival. Food was awesome. And just a short walk to a great temple. Really glad I didn't choose to stay at a boring box hotel. People might be put off by the age of the place but I...

The sweetest, kindest people in the world... For instance, my American cell phone wouldn't work in Japan despite reassurances from AT&T that it would once I got on their International plan. :( Anyway, I needed to call my husband to let him know I had arrived safely. I went outside to try to phone. There was just a tiny sprinkling...

I recently spent nine days in Narita Japan. During that time, I stayed at Kirinoya Ryokan, a more than 100 year old traditional Japanese inn. My stay in Kirinoya was the highlight of my visit to Japan. It provided me with an experience of Japan I could never have gotten by staying in a modern Japanese hotel. The proprietor, Mr....

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, back in 2010 (prior to the tsunami and nuclear event,) and we enjoyed our stay. The owner is a very hospitable old man who runs the ryokan with his son and another elderly lady. The place is a bit run down but was kept clean and tidy. There are Japanese antiques scattered here...

We chose to stay here because our flight arrived after dark and we did not want to go through the hassle of an hour bus ride to get into Tokyo, especially with three kids in tow. We booked through the website via the email form without any problems. We took a taxi from the airport. The owner and his wife...

“Difficult to find as all street names are in Japanese. Call the owner from the JR or Kensei train station in Narita, he'd be happy to pick you up, or take a cab to figure out where it is.”

“For me alone the six tatami room was great. I stayed in room at the top of the stairs. Room eight looked better for a family with two rooms and a table. seriously though three people could have stayed in my room by Japanese standards. I felt very spoiled.”
  • Another view from the side hallway (they also have coin laundry)
  • View from a small terrace in the back
  • The larger flat screen TV in each room - showing beautiful material (all in Japanese)
  • Japanese Closet
  • Zabuton in my room (silk)
  • Futon & bedding w/ a traditional Japanese pillow on top and my violin (home= violin's place) CLE
