Don't have those Japanese style warm greeting and welcome drink while check in .A part from that everything is perfect but maybe the location is in the middle of a forest, cell phone receptions is really bad would have been nice if there's wifi for what I paid for.

We've been to Hakone several other times. We didn't know this when we booked the hotel, but we previously stayed at its sister hotel, the Hakone Setsugetsuka (which we also liked) couple years back. We chose this hotel because (like Setsugetsuka) it offered private onsen areas outside, and also came with a lot of extras like the complimentary refreshments. There...

Mizunoto was similar to a ryoken we stayed at last year (Setsugetsuka) but not as nice. The room was very good. The private onsen on the deck was also nice but looked a bit dated (the controls seemed out of place with the style of the tub.) The public/semi-private onsen were very nice as well as the common areas. For...

Getting to the hotel was a challenge. After making a few missed turns, we finally found the hotel. Honestly, the hotel did not look very impressive. It has a big lounge area and there was free coffee and tea and also Apple Sake. That was the 1st impression. We had an English speaking staff (from Sri Lanka) who showed us...

This spa hotel is located about 30 minutes beyond Hakone Yamoto, the main train stop in the Hakone area. It is just two stops from the last stop of the train at Gora, at which point the Hakone circuit changes over to tram/cablecar, then ropeway (little gondolas), then boat, then bus or other form of transportation back to your starting...

The staff are excellent. The breakfast and dinner are very good and beautifully arranged. There is limited English, but we managed. The location is inconvenient, but there is a shuttle van in the afternoon to take you to the Kowakeden station. The private onsen is beautifull, located outdoors, but often full. Dining area somtimes gets smoky due to the grilling...

“We didn't see the new wing, but I would try to get a room on a higher floor that doesn't have the neighboring hotel in its view. When the trees are leafed out that is probably not an issue, and it wasn't one on the 5th floor ar the farthest end from the lobby, but it might be on lower floors or closer to the lobby end of the building. In that regard, the newer wing might be better, but we didn't see any of those rooms.”
