We spent a night at Gora Kadan and it was absolutely stunning. Our room had a private onsen overlooking beautiful scenery. The service as expected was impeccable! The food was very well prepared and beautiful. I am vegetarian and they prepared a fantastic vegetarian kaiseki meal. It is a pricey place but well worth the splurge if your are visiting...

The service is one of the best I've ever experienced. Staff are friendly, very professional and polite. The hot springs are beautiful!!! Be sure to hire out the private bath (40mins) and maximum of 3 people. The views is very calming and the water very hot. The ryokan was spotless and the attention to detail to make your trip that...

I had high expectations from this place since I had read great articles on it. Also, for what you pay you have a certain level of expectations. The staff was very nice and always willing to help but I felt when we arrived there was really no great explanation of the place and amenities. The staff don't speak very much...

This hot spring is an amazing place to unwind. Beautiful setting, wonderful food, excellent hot spring and relaxing shiatsu massage. We have been going there since 1998, and this was our 10th visit. Like always, the family had a very relaxing and enjoyable time.

It's our second stay we still love every bits of it. The food is excellent, the staff was very polite, the place is very clean. There seems to be no fault that I can particularly point out. I highly recommend this ryokan!!

This magnificent Ryokan was the perfect accommodation in Hakone, Japan. After visiting the Open Air Museum with it's magnificent art, we settled into this beautifully situated Ryokan. Our suite was made up of tatami mats, a beautiful bathroom with a tub, sauna and shower, low tables to eat on while sitting on the mats and we were provided kimono for...

Travelled with a group of 4 friends and stayed at Aoi. The decor of the room is quite bland without much attention to details, with some furniture showing wear. The outdoor private bath and the garden are nice, so are the two public baths and the family onsen. Dinner and breakfast were mediocre. Overall a pleasant experience, the baths and...

Gora Kaden is the place I choose to celebrate the anniversery with my wife in 2014-12. The meals, the room (Aoi Suite) was overwhelming, however, we are very disappointed about the control of the quality of public Onsen. We met some young, fancy-dressed Chinese visitors (no offend, but we really can tell from their accents,) in the Lounge, they were...
