We stayed in the 'Sakura' Japanese style villa on the mid April rainy days. The temperature dropped down to almost freezing, and we were surrounded by mist. The fresh fragrance of forest made onsen in the open air a refreshing one. Dinner and breakfast were...More

If you want to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan and experience a traditional kaiseki meal, then this is the place to book! The location was an easy ride from the Hakone train station (from Shinjuku on the Romancecar) and then direct on the H...More

We caught the H bus from Odawara and alighted at Hakone-en. Cross the road and the Ryokan is opposite. Takes about 40 minutes on the bus. Tip, forward your luggage as there is limited space on the bus and it makes travelling quite stress free....More

Wish I could help with this. I was driven there by a friend who lives in Japan. That said, the concierge of the hotel you are staying at before you head for Hakone should be able to help.

Open air onsen has Hot spring water, quite hot. There is an outside shower with regular tap water, also under open roof, but no inside shower or bath. Actually it's really nice regardless of the weather.
