My wife and stayed in the Sakura 2 room for two nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. If you're looking for a truly authentic Japan experience, in a traditional ryokan, Fukuzumiro should be your choice. As another reviewer observed, it feels just like a living museum - in a good way. We went full immersion (pardon the pun) -...

My boyfriend and I stayed in the "Seseragi" room at Fukuzumiro. The room view is gorgeous and tranquil. We both found the service to be pleasant, with the owners being able to speak English sufficiently. We opted to include breakfast. We picked the Western-style, which was fine. Overall, a good experience.

We booked the big room on top floor with nice balcony viewing the flowing river. Our room is made up of 3 separate rooms and 1 balcony. There are 1 private bath and 2 public baths featuring the hotspring water. The public baths are timed for male and female so with one overnight stay, each could experience both baths. The...

We were lucky enough to book the ryokan's only room with its own private onsen during our stay in Japan. A friend had recommended it and we were amazed with the layout, food, service, and view. I knew we were going to be near the river, but it was a real treat to see and hear it each day we...

We had an entirely surreal experience at Fukuzumuri, especially after the clinical cleanliness and effeciency of Tokyo. Go here. Eat an evening meal here. Go with it all. Let the ladies boss you about. Use the Onsen. Wear the Yukata and just go with it. It is what it is. Not fancy, not flash, rather basic in fact, but completely...

Good location, near to Tonosawa bus station - If you were using train, is 5 mins walk from the Tonosawa train station but need to climb the hill... Excellent staff services: the meals will be serve in your room by the friendly staff who can speak English... Having a private onsen room as well as general onsen hall shared with...

Service is excellent and the food is good and it could not be more beautifully situated by the river but the place could benefit from some restoring to make it worth the cost. If you are historically interested and want to come close to living in a museum then this is the pick for you. Everything is authentic and original...

We stayed for one night at the ryokan fukuzumiro. Initially I was nervous about the separate bathrooms but it was fine. The onset was very relaxing. We had a river view and the view fall leaves were a very beautiful and we could hear the river from our room (picture below). Dinner and breakfast were a unique and wonderful experience...

As at all Japanese Ryokan, the service was fantastic and the food was as well. We had our own ansen with hot (very hot) spring water - it was wonderful. You will never forget this place or the people.

Hakone is packed with large hotels but Fukuzumiro is one of the small traditional Japanese ryokans. If you want a genuine Japanese inn experience complete with hot spring baths, rooms with tatami mats, multi-course Japanese dinner and (Japanese or western) breakfast served in the comfort of your room then you should try this place. We chose it because it was...
