This hotel offers clean, quiet, relatively spacious rooms several bus stops outside of the town of Nikko. There are, however, bus stops quite close nearby. We were there in early November--buses don't run as often during this time as they do in the summer. That said, the Imperial Villa and Toshogu Shrine are within easy to moderate walking distance. This hotel was reserved at the last movement and it was a very good price with Breakfast. The hotel is very clean and with a public bath with an outdoor public bath ( in Japanese rotenburo) Fantastic combination and was very quite. Close to the Nikko Toshogu shrine and good if you enter Nikko in the night and go to... More

Good location if you have a car-on outskirts of town near the park. Price is good but you get what you pay for. Very small room with very small bed and no extra space for your bags. Bathroom is also very small and difficult to navigate in and out of bathtub to shower.Clean facility. Staff is attentive but speak little... More

The staff were lovely here always trying to be helpful. In truth the room was the smallest/poorest we experienced in our stay in Japan but it didn't stop the stay being enjoyable. The restaurant was very good with a French flavour to the menu. It is quite a walk to the town.

This hotel is about a 30-45 minute walk outside of the main town. The walk from the town/train station is a slight incline so if you are going to walk it, be prepared. The local bus has a stop about 40 meters outside of the hotel so that was really convenient. I recommend that if you are staying in this... More

We mainly booked the hotel because we were late in ordering and only very expensive hotels were left. But the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Sure it is not the most trendy place you'd ever seen but it is obviously driven by a family so you feel at home and well taken care off. Rooms are OK, breakfast is fine... More

We quite enjoyed our stay here. It's quiet and family style with western type bedrooms. Comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were provided. Our selections were chosen for us which may have been because we were with a very large group. Normally I wouldn't like this but the food served was good It's located on a quiet road, an easy 20 minute... More

The hotel is opposite the botanical gardens (hence the name, it doesn't have much of a garden itself). There are buses in both directions every 20-30 minutes. A two day bus pass for 2000yen will be good value if you plan to visit the Kegon waterfall - the hotel is halfway between the station and the falls, and the single... More

“Rooms facing away from the highway are probably more quiet.”

“Some of the rooms face the road and another reviewer had said it was quite noisy. Even though I am a light sleeper, from our second floor room--which faced the road--I honestly can't say I noticed the noise. We came during spring break on a week day, and before the peak season, so it probably can be a bit noisier in busier times. However, the rooms are not right by the road, being somewhat separated by the garden. If noise could be a problem, just ask for a room on the other side.”
