I have to disagree with some of the reviews I've been reading here.
If you're looking for a shiny hotel to feel "like home", then this is not the place.

For those who want to experience authentic Japanese ryokan, this is the place! It has good room with a living area and garden view. It has wonderful big onsen (real hot spring, not just hot water). Japanese breakfast is delicious and wide spread.
We had a friendly welcome at reception and there was a lovely man who drove us into town and collected us a few times.
However, the place itself is dated, dirty, smelly and in need of complete refurbishment.
