Our family stayed here on our recent trip to Japan and it was an absolute highlight. Kayoko-san is the most wonderful example of Japanese hospitality you can imagine. Every single detail was perfect, and as other reviews have indicated, the accomodation itself is excellent, the breakfast superb - I'm just sorry that 5 stars is the maximum that we can...

Had a lovely stay here. Kayoko-San was welcoming and helpful in all matters. Location is great, nice and clean and the breakfast both Japanese and western style were excellent. Kimono experience was wonderful and really completed my visit to Japan. Is a little perfect place in Nara and I would love to stay again if I have the chance to....

The grounds, as described by the other travellers before us, need no further words or justification. It was quite simply perfect. But Kayoko-San really completed the entire stay-in experience. She concerned herself with all our minor requests, and even sold us part of her personal stamp collection (*gasp* pictures of Japanese cuisine) when the post office was closed. We visited...

We stayed for the second time in Guesthouse Sakuraya and were very well taken care of by Kayoko-san. Kayoko-san speaks English very, very well. She was also very helpful in making a reservation in a Japanese restaurant of our choice. Every morning we were treated on an excellent Japanes breakfast and as we stayed four nights we could choose the...

We stayed 2 nights in Hana room at Sakuraya guesthouse. From the location, the amenities and cleanliness to the most friendly and helpful host and the delicious Japanese breakfast (the best one ever) - everything was perfect. This is one of the most unique and charming places we have stayed in. We highly recommend it! Aurel and Elena

Stayed at Sakuraya for 2 nights. Kayoko was a fantastic host, both friendly and attentive. Very comfortable tatami room adjacent to the garden, excellent sitting/dinner area, and wonderful Japanese breakfast. A bit of a walk from the JR station (25 minutes) but not an issue. Within walking distance of the major sites in Nara. Highly recommend to other travelers.

This place, and Nara, were our favourite destination in Japan. Kyoki-San is the most gracious host and will cook you the best breakfast you've ever eaten. The house itself is breathtakingly beautiful and the detail - including fresh flowers and towels everyday. The street itself is filled with historic homes and merchants. Easy walking distance to all attractions. Recommend taking...

A fabulous little place which sells itself short with its name, recommended in Lonely Planet and entirely deserving of its rating on tripadvisor. We stayed in the upstairs room which is more like a good Ryokan than a guesthouse. Traditional tatami mat flooring, historical Japanese décor and lovely cosy futons on the floor to give you the authentic experience you...

Kayoko deserves her number one spot on TripAdvisor. The ryokan has been restored beautiffully and she is very welcoming and a great source of helpful information about Japan in general and Nara in particular. The rooms looking out over the pretty courtyard are stylish and traditional. The Japanese breakfast of salmon, rice and miso was so tasty that even our...

Cannot rave enough about Kayoko San. She was so unbelievably welcoming and couldn't do more to make us feel at home. She knew we were on honeymoon and went out of her way to make it extra special for us. The guesthouse is immaculate and might as well be described as a ryokan. Beautiful, tranquil, easy walking distance to lovely...
