3 Aussies with bikes. All stayed in one tatami room, bikes were safe downstairs in the basement area near the hotel entrance. Bring a bike lock! Right in the centre of town, short ride from. Shinkansen terminal. Most staff spoke English but use google translate to polish it up. Onsen was small, quite and cute.

Close to the historical part of the city, not far from the harbour and very close to Tenmonkan Dori, this is a great place to stay, espacially in the big Japanese-style rooms. Very helpful staff though some at front desk hardly speak any English.

I loved my stay at Nakahara Besso: The staff spoke English and was extremly friendly and helped me even late at night to re-arrange my bookings for other hotels as well as find a the best way to travel from Kagoshima to Kobe/Osaka as the trains were blocked due to the earthquake. I enjoyed one of the best Kaiseki Dinners...

This time, thank you very much for your best evaluation! The person who looked after Framboise - Mr. Zuerich the other day. It seemed that you could board an airplane safely, and I was relieved. I caused you trouble by influence by an earthquake this time. But without worrying about it, please come to Japan again. By the smiling face...

We stayed there for two nights. The hotel is located very centrally and the Onsen was a very enjoyable added bonus. The rooms were clean albeit simple. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We have booked this hotel again, this time a western style room and we look forward to staying there again.

*this hotel is located near tenmonkan tram station, about 5 min walk. *this hotel is closed to the tenmonkan dori, where many shops and restaurants are located. *the room is spacious enough. *natural onsen with good quality although the size of the onsen is a bit small. *staff are very friendly and tried their very best to communicate in English...

I booked a night here through booking.com, and stayed in a western style room. The room was basic and not very modern, but clean and comfortable. As with most Japanese hotels, the room was small compared to western standards. The staff was quite helpful, and went out of their way to be kind, even receiving a package for me while...

Booked a stay here on japanican.com and was very impressed with the staff who really did their best to make our stay in Kagoshima a pleasant one. Our rate included two meals per day, both of which were delicious. I booked a semi-Western room with an ensuite bathroom... There was a drawing room with the necessities for tea service, the...

We stayed in a Japanese style room which was large and clean. The onsen was fine but nothing special. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is opposite the main shopping area of the town and the choice for restaurants is vast. Try the local speciality of black pig. The only thing that bothered...

We stayed two nights at Nakahara Besso in a japanese style room, which was rather small but convenient. The hotel is very well located, 2 minutes from the shopping and dining areas, 15 minutes walk to the harbour and close to bus and streetcar facilities. We particularly enjoyed the extremely friendly and helpful staff and we had an excellent japanese...

Stayed here August 7-9, 2010 with my husband and our three children ages 18, 14 and 10. Kagoshima is our ancestral "hometown" and the Nakahara Besso served as the base camp for our homecoming. This welcoming hotel with its gracious staff did not disappoint in any way. The Japanese-style rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff sets out your bedding...
