It is a hostel with a hotel service. The house owner offered to help us with our suitcases up and down the stairs, which made us flattered, and introduced the house and the area to us in every detail. The house itself is very nice and pretty. We're all happy about it.

Yes, the Dyeing and Hostel Nakashimaya has an age limit. Thankfully the management "allowed me" to stay because I happen to be 51 years and didn't read the fine print. Why do they have an age limit? The management told me that they want to preserve the purity of a "youth hostel" and therefore limit anyone over 49. According to...

Nice clean place, well decorated and organised. The staff is not very present and the reception is very often unattended but you can call them with a phone and they always come down quickly. I stayed in a private room wich was nice but small, in a simple japanese style, bathroom is shared. Still I found it to be a...

Since I only had one day at Kumamoto, I stayed here only one day. Before I visit here, I sent email to this hostel and received reply in just few hours. Location: I arrived in kumamoto bus terminal and it only took 10~15 mins by walk(though I wander here and there). There was a convenient store adjacent to tram station...

Very clean and well organised hostel. We had a very small double room, japanese style; no room for luggage but own large lockable cupboard just across the corridor. Bathroom/shower facilties are shared and very clean. There's a small kitchen with fairly limited facilities but a useful vending machine; might be a push if the place was busy. Nice lounge on...

Guesthouse is quite new but built with a lot of wood, which makes a really nice atmosphere. Also extremly clean. Would there go again! Loved it! Location also alright, but 10-15 min walk to the castle.

This hostel combines the old Japanese tatami style with a modern and clean hostel. You can see the castle from the top, it has a nice common room, also vending machines with food and all, and you'll sleep on futons feeling at home. Staff speaks perfect English. You need to take a few stops by tram from the main train...

Wonderful place, spotlessly clean. Shiny shiny floors and staff who are the most considerate I've ever come across, I had a single room, Japanese style. Basically mattress on the floor but the room had air conditioning and a fan, and a beautiful sliding door. It was secure with a fantastic lock. Shared bathroom with a vending machine for shampoo etc....

The hostel is nice and clean, the staff are very helpful. Everything, super marked, the arcade, the attractions, the stations and restaurants are within walking distance. The hostel is located on a quiet sleep, so nothing is disturbing in the day / night time - plus the futons are very comfortable. This hostel has everything a traveller need, and yes...
