This was my first onsen experience and I have to say that it was really great! The water was so hot that it took time for me to fully submerge in the hot spring. Better to have scalding hot shower first to get used to the temperature.

The people in Hozanso were also very nice to us and try hard to communicate using English/Korean since we hardly know any Japanese.

The traditional Japanese breakfast included in the room we paid for was good. Nothing exceptional but I guess it's the experience that counts.

The room we stayed in was also nice and clean. The futon was surprisingly soft. It was my first time sleeping on a futon and I thought it would still feel like sleeping on the floor.

Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would stay here again if I go back to Beppu.

Thank xianora

It's the same as I remember when I went here 9 years ago. I prefer quiet ryokans like this rather than a hotel so it was great. Dinner and breakfast are as awesome as I remember. Best part of the experience was the stone sauna recommended by the onesan who served us. Will be coming back soon!

Thank Nejji Rae A
