Just a 5-minute walk from Morioka Station—ideal for sightseeing or business! Morioka City has a uniquely beautiful landscape, with rows of buildings set against the backdrop of Mt. Iwate and the Kitakami River. ART HOTEL Morioka—located just 7 minutes on foot from JR Morioka Station’s East Gate—is conveniently located for exploring the sights and shopping in Morioka City and the rest of Iwate Prefecture. The city’s streets are lined with buildings that date back to the Showa and Meiji eras, with the most notable being the Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building. Designed by the architect Tatsuno Kingo, who also designed the Marunouchi building of Tokyo Station, the bank is open to visitors looking to view its unique interior. The ruins of Morioka Castle are an excellent destination when the cherry blossoms are in season. Morioka City’s main sightseeing destinations can be easily accessed via the DenDen Mushi loop bus.

I stayed in a double room for single use on a weekday before the Obon holiday. It's a 10-minute walk from Morioka Station. The front desk staff was foreign, but it wasn't a problem, and they were able to introduce me to a nearby convenience store without any hesitation. The room I stayed in was on the 10th floor, a typical business hotel. The shower water pressure was fine. On the other hand, the toilet water pressure was low. All amenities were provided, but there was no complimentary water. It was the day before the Obon holiday, so there were many families and it was a bit noisy, but it wasn't a problem. It's close to the downtown area, so it's convenient at night. I think I'd stay here again if I have the chance to visit Morioka. Thank you for your help.

The hotel was conveniently located with the shopping district and most of the sightseeing (park and shrine, red brick building & rock splitting cherry blossom tree) in the city only a short walk away. Lots of restaurants and shops around the hotel which came in handy during our rainy stay in Morioka. We thought it was overpriced for what you get though. The room is really small and the pillows were some of the most uncomfortable pillows we've ever slept on. The staff was super friendly and helpful though letting us store our luggage before check-in and after check-out and lending us some umbrellas to make exploring the city in the rain a bit more enjoyable. For this price you can probably find something better, this was just the only last-minute option for us.

We stayed for breakfast at the top floor sky banquet, with good access to Morioka Station, Odori and Morioka Castle. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy, but the car park was better than I expected, with authentic Japanese and Chinese restaurants and banquets on the second and third floors. It is close to the Kitakami River, and in the morning we strolled for an hour along the promenade close to the river before heading to the breakfast venue. Breakfast included roast beef and other meats, and we were very satisfied with the number and taste of the local ingredients, so we were able to enjoy an extraordinary breakfast sitting by the window on the top floor sky banquet. The standard twin we used was clean and well-equipped and comfortable, although the room was not large. It is a recommended hotel.

Morioka, the capital city of Iwate Prefecture, gained well-deserved fame earlier this year when New York Times highlighted as one of the best destinations. My wife grew up in a smaller town not far from here, so we decided to spend a small holiday for three nights in Morioka.
The Art Hotel is highly recommended. The location could not be better. It’s in the city center, close to the beautiful Kitakami River. It’s a quarter of an hour’s walk to the main railway station (both the Shinkansen bullet trains and local trains) and smack in the middle of a lively area with restaurants and shops.
It’s a large hotel, very clean and neat. As we were three people, including our 11-year-old daughter, we got a spacious room with three separate and quite large beds, a group of chairs and table, and desk for working. Very comfortable, indeed.

It used a lot of Iwate ingredients, and even though I wanted to try everything, I ended up giving up because I was full.
The banquet hall was on the top floor and had a view of the majestic Mt. Iwate.
It's a hotel I'd like to visit again.

The front desk staff are always very friendly, and although the building is old, it's a comfortable hotel.
I'm posting here because I haven't seen any improvement in the cleaning, which has been bothering me for a while.
I've always been annoyed by the amount of hair on the carpet.
I bought a lint roller at a nearby Daiso and was surprised at how much hair there was.
I ended up using 20 lint rollers.
I could hear the vacuum cleaner, but it didn't seem to remove any of the hair from the carpet.
I also tried the breakfast for the first time in a while, but it still tasted disappointing.
It's such a waste, considering they use such carefully selected ingredients!!
I think there's a problem with the cooking method and the sense of seasoning.
I'd like the staff to try it and make improvements.

Standard hotel not far from Morioka Station, about a 10 minute walk. The receptionist and all officers provide good service. The bedroom is spacious, comfortable and clean. The WiFi signal is strong and good. Breakfast is on the 14th floor. There are many delicious flavors. This hotel will focus on showing off local food which is very unique.

Best value in Japan! Paid total of Yen 6,000 for a double room.
Newly refurbished hotel. Compared to similar style hotels (ie business hotel close to station) the lobby was big with lots of seating. Corridors were wide. The room itself although compact felt bigger - we had 2 chairs and a small movable table as well as normal desk. Good lighting. Nice attention to detail. Got a good feeling when I booked the room over the phone with Furukawa san who was very friendly and helpful. Short walk from station. Convenience store very close by. No onsen. Did not eat at hotel.

It was no fun walking from train station at night with -2 snow. But once arrived, right at the start of the shopping avenue, everything was within 10 minutes. Besides the numerous 24-hour convenience stores, restaurants offered endless choices. Do try the Marioka renowned cold noodles. It goes well with a wood burning warmer and a roast-meat stoves. We were fascinated with the engulfing display of bread at the bakery around the corner. Free coffee and tea with any purchase of bread, cakes or pizza. What more can you ask?
