The natural beauty of this place and the experience of bathing in hot springs in the middle of it all can't be overstated. If you are looking for a different Japaneses experience this is your place. The Sakan Hotel is gorgeous and the food is on my top ten of food! We had some of the best meals I have ever had! My colleague booked this place for us, because he felt it was a uniquely Japanese experience and his favorite ryokan and onsen in the area. The place did not disappoint. This is our first time in Akiu onsen in Tohoku perfecture. We didn't expect much.But it is such a enjoyable moment with a comfortable room, delicious food and service was outstanding. English speaking tourist will be hard pressed to find a reference to this world class property. Except for a visiting dignitary, I doubt that many Americans have been guests at Sakan.
