The price was definitely a steal but thankfully I only stayed for a day because I cannot imagine myself living there for more than a night... It isn't as clean as I hoped it would be. The bedsheets were stained and the towel looks really old... The doors were creaking as well.

I like the hotel so far. The room is small but clean and the shower is fantastic. The hotel is the center place which it easy to walk around in nearby places like malls, food courts and very nice coffee shop around. I definitely woud love to stay here again.

We researched on Ritzton before when looking for accommodation for a weekend stay for 4 for the forthcoming weekend, 17-19 Dec.

On 11 Dec night, there was an extremely heavy jam towards CIQ, JB. We checked at 6pm plus, then at 10pm plus, both times were just as bad!

So, we headed towards Ritzton to rest for the night before we returned to Singapore on 12 Dec morning.

For good-class hotels in JB: we've stayed at Doubletree, Renaissance, Holiday Villas, KSL, Puteri Pacific (when it was much newer then) etc...

For humble-class hotels/boutique hotels in JB: we've stayed at Belllo, The Ardens, Insta, Bliss, Granada etc and now, Ritzton.

A quick comparison:-

~Reception~

We like the brightly-lit, spacious & "luxurious" look of Ritzton. Insta's reception not bad too, big and modern & industrial-look design. The Ardens' reception, though not as big as Ritzton's, it's has a very nice and pleasing design too! Both Belllo's and Bliss' reception are comparatively smaller.

~Check-in and check-out~

Bliss remains the BEST: they will serve you with hot towels and welcome drink. The Ardens', Insta's and Belllo's check-in and check-out service are the same. All the above hotels issued us with receipts as acknowledgement of our payment.

Our experience at Ritzton was a little unusual. Receptionist is a Pakistani-look-alike young, thin and polite chap. Very patient and always wore a smile on his face. However, after we paid for our hotel room upfront, he didn't issue us a receipt, we had to request. Then, we asked him to stamp PAID on a half-sheet of document he gave us but instead, out came, "PAYMENT VOUCHER" stamp. We again insisted that he write PAID which he did eventually. Next morning, when we were checking out, he asked us for that sheet of paper which he wrote PAID and signed the previous night, we gave it to him and he said that was it. Huh? We insisted that he issued us a receipt. This is extremely STRANGE. We were not even asking for a receipt put in a proper envelope like that in St Regis, Park Hyatt which we stayed before....At first, he kept saying that the computer system had not adjusted to the "next day" page, ie, the page on its system was still 11 Dec, something like this. He finally managed to print a RECEIPT for us. From the few-hundred reviews we've read in TA, some reviewers had unpleasant encounters just because a receipt had not been issued upon payment, so be prudent and wise, always request for a receipt, if not given, insist on it.

~Security Guard for your car~

This is an extremely interesting area. Most hotels will advertise that they have security service for guests' cars. We saw security guard happily dancing at the Insta reception when he was supposed to guard guests' cars. No car parking space avail at Belllo, thus this isn't an issue. Both The Ardens and Bliss have proper desk/seat and seat respectively for their guards. When we arrived at Ritzton Hotel at 10 plus pm, guard was of course wide awake, when we left at 4 plus am, he was sound asleep on a foldable bed along the 5-foot way of the row of shophouses that Ritzton is part of. To digress, The Sterling@Malacca even has a guard house at its carpark and for 3D2N that we stayed there last Dec, we've never seen a guard in that office, day or night.

~Proximity to CIQ & Convenience~

10 min drive from CIQ (no traffic jam) and 5-min drive from KSL.

Located just one shop away from Seven Oaks Cafe and Bakery.

Along the same side of the road, you will find Lavender Bakery HQ. The 2-storey detached shops with full-glass windows opposite Ritzton Hotel are very lovely, especially the Bridal gown shops.

There are a few restaurants near Ritzton besides Seven Oaks, like Korean Restaurant...

There are also Shell, Caltex petrol stations just a stone throw away from Ritzton.

~Amenities & Provision~

There is a lift@ Ritzton. Very good! All the humble-class and boutique hotels listed above also have a lift.

Comfortable bed and pillows.

Wardrobe, hairdryer, kettle, complimentary tea sachets, 2 bottles of water, toothbrush set, cotton buds, the usual soap/liquid soap and shampoo all provided for.

All humble-class hotels listed above including Ritzton have a proper shower cubicle except Bliss. We forgot if Insta has one!? This is very important so that the bathroom isn't totally wet after a shower.

Only drawback in Ritzton's bathroom is that there are no hooks.

Sharp brand TV and Daikin Inverter aircon are provided/installed.

~Size~

Whether it's in Singapore, Malaysia or anywhere else in the world, Ritzton's room was the smallest we've stayed before, may be only 12 sqm (our guess only). No room size given on any websites.

Like the earlier TA review, the room door opens up to the foot of the bed, literally.

When standing at the sink, I couldn't even close the bathroom door, I had to stand near the shower cubicle, close the door, then walk back to the toilet bowl.

~Newness & Cleanliness~

Only 5-month old. Everything is new! Clean! However, as per last TA review, sheets looked crumpled. May be it's the material, even after ironing, it's like that?! (Shrug shoulders, unsure.)

~WiFi~

Yes, there was WiFi throughout Ritzton hotel during our stay.

All the humble-class and boutique hotels listed above have WiFi except Insta Hotel (only reception has WiFi@Insta and we were there, even WiFi@Insta Reception was down)

~Will we return?~

For a 6-hr stay, why not? All essentials are provided for and you get a comfortable bed and pillows. Once you shut your eyes and enter slumberland, size of the room does not matter anymore.

For a weekend getaway, please pay more and get a bigger room with windows. We will feel claustrophobic if we were to stay in that room for more than 2-3hrs in a wide-awake condition.

For travellers with big luggage, book the bigger rooms. For wheelchair-bound travellers, check out the room size at the location before you book, the room we stayed in definitely cannot accommodate a wheelchair.

~Why 3 circle rating~

Location is good. It's new and clean, however, check-in and check-out system can be improved.
Room is too small for a weekend getaway. We may give a higher rating after we stay in Ritzton's bigger rooms.

Dirty floor map, I can hear TV from another room, bed uncomfortable. Next morning backache. Not sure any bed bud but felt itch. Book triple room but given standard room. I will not recommend if want to stay more night. I checked in at 8.30pm and check out at 8.30am.

Decided to give this hotel a shot after reading the reviews here and on other similar sites.

Hotel is new and I understand that it did not open too long ago.

Check-in was fast. Personnel at reception was friendly (both for day and night shift).

We got a king room that is above the reception. Room (including toilet) was clean. Furnishing was nice and grand. As mentioned by other reviewers, it was fairly small.

Air conditioner was okay. TV reception was not perfect but you could still watch TV without much worry.

At night, there was a security guard too that watches the door.

Check-out was fast and you could leave your luggage after you check out before you leave.

Just a point though, they would require a RM100 deposit. Do make sure you have it prepared.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a decent accomodation on a budget.

The room is slightly small and the finishing looked slightly unprofessional, but otherwise the bed was comfortable and the amenities, accurate as advertised. TV reception was not clear but we are not in the room half the time anyway.

My only gripe was that I was given the ground floor room which was next to the toilets (meant for public access). I was woken up several times in the middle of the night to the sounds of the toilet doors being opened and closed and flushing.

We also got locked out once because the battery on the mechanism that senses your hotel key card died and the hotel staff needed to replace the batteries. Apparently they replace it once every 2 weeks - so perhaps there should be a longer term solution to this?

Walking distance to great food and coffee places (Ah Piaw, San Low, Coffee Signature, Gianni's, Sweetwater, Lavender Cafe).

I was here for a short 2D1N trip to JB with my family. We frequent JB alot and this was one of the few hotels i've stayed in. I would say that i was surprised upon entering the hotel. Lobby was decked with really posh sofas that gives good photo opportunity. It is a small hotel with only 3 floors from my observation. No facilities (gym, swimming pool).

My sister booked the Deluxe Triple room which had 1 king bed and 1super single bed for my parents and I. Not much walking space but sufficient for a good night rest. Beds, quilts and pillows were comfortable. It also helped that the TV had Singapore channels and also charging points. There was simple kettle and coffee/tea prepared too. As for convenience, it is a few mins drive away from Sentosa and City Square Mall. Right beside popular cafe Seven Oaks and Seasons bakery. Good breakfast options.

I would advise people to avoid going during Public Holidays as most shops are not open in the morning or for the whole day. Lucky for us, Seasons was open at 830am and we enjoyed our simple breakfast over there.

Overall, a good stay. Affordable and value for money.

My family and I are from London, and we stayed 2 nights in this hotel. It is a very new hotel and generally, it was clean. I've listed the pros & cons below-

Pros - New, brightly lighted, hair dryer, kettle and some coffee and tea sachets provided in the room. Room is generally rather clean and so was the bathroom. Comfortable bed, and slim TV mounted on the wall. You can get Singapore channels on TV. Close to many massage shops and a bakery next door.

Cons - Receptionist could be a little bit more smiley. You could tell they weren't really trained in customer service. Rooms were very small, tiny in fact. The main complain for us was that the water heating in the shower was an issue - it would start warm when you shower, but half way on, the water would turn cold.

I would recommend this hotel purely because it's new and clean, and it's ideal for a short term stay. If you intend to do do a big shopping spree, then I would suggest you get the king size room which is more spacious. There was absolutely no where for us to put our luggage in the tiny double bedroom, but luckily we were there with minimal baggage.

We drove down from Malacca arriving in JB past 1am and decided to pick a basic hotel to stay for the night. Ritzton has a rather pretty facade and its building is lit up hence we couldn't miss it as our car approached. The check in was easy, pick the room type, room rates was all listed down at the reception (same price as hotels.com). We picked a queen room and paid a RM 100 deposit.

Room was very small. Luckily we had handcarry, not luggage else we would have trouble fitting anything into this tiny space. Bigger folks may find the size unacceptable as the door practically opens at the foot of the bed. Bed was fine but we thought the sheets look used as it was very crumpled and there were small dots/stains. No stench thankfully.

Bathroom was clean and came with basic amenities. Both hubby and I experienced the shower (rain shower) oddly turning cold after 5 minutes when we took our showers. We did not bother to report it since it was well into the night by now.

For a night's stay, it was passable but the room size would prevent me from booking this hotel again. The location is good though and there's security watching the cars in the night. Special mention it's right next to the highly recommended Seven Oaks restaurant/cafe.

I book this hotel tru expedia. Rm206 for 2 nights for fri and sat which is kinda budget. This hotel is very new and clean. English speaking friendly staffs.
My room is by the lift at 2nd floor and the cheapest with queen bed fit for 2. Got lift in this property..so no nid to carry heavy luggage via staircase. However inside the room walking space is a bit narrow for this type of room. If you carry 28"inch luggage u will have difficulty to put in the room. The bathroom however is slightly spacious with clear glass separating bathing area and toilet area.
Poor tv and hp reception as this room got no window. Better choose with window nextime. Have to go down lobby to answer all my calls. However their wifi is good and strong..luckily.
This hotel is full by weekend.can see alot walk in customers here. Parking is a problem during the day. But at night is fine and got more parkings and the hotel hire guards to look after your car if you park near n in front their property.
One thing not good is i can hear ppl next door talking at lift lobby as my room is by the lift. Those staying at room below floor talking loudly and frequent open and closing door i can hear in my room when i resting at midnight. Even hp ringing next door oso i can hear clearly when in my room. Can say the wall is not thick to filter the sound and noise from next door n floor below. So i have difficulty in sleep for my 2 days stay.
Good thing is its really clean, new and budget.
