i stay one night in this hotel and i am glad the room is clean and the view is nice. the room is small so dun expect much. no fridge but the location is good. i got my room are 50 bucks for 2 people thus i think its quite reasonable. and the room is clean and there is not funny smell. i actually expect it to be dirty and since Jalan Wong Ah Fook is known for illegal activities i am quite scared my girlfriend will be not pleased with the place but it turn out well. there is free wifi and staff is friendly trying their best to help. opposite is the city square which have cinema and restaurant to get your meal fixed there. there have their small minimart below but they open late and close early. so dun expect much. did not try the breakfast provided as i overslept. security is there as the lift need access card to operate.

true to its word, the location is good as it's near to the customs and with easy accessibility to food and shopping. here's what i feel towards this hotel.

1. reception / check in & out:
- check in / out was quite fast so it wasn't too bad.
- BUT night receptionist was a bit rude when i asked her about the extra pillows that i've requested in my booking. she bluntly told me off that the housekeeping dept is closed thus there's no way that I could have the pillows. she could have just told me nicely cos i swear, i really DID ask her nicely and with a smile. but her reply was cold and that shut me away.

2. room:
- we got room 809 (superior queen), in front of the road but surprisingly no sound coming from the road side.
BUT the noises came from our neighbor's door and it WAS really loud.
the banging of the door was BAD.
- room is REALLY small and with just basic necessities.
- NO safe deposit box
- NO wardrobe
- NOT enough hangers (only 2)
- BUT the room is CLEAN

3. Toilet / Bathroom:
- NOT that clean, dust behind the door.
- in between tiles was NEVER washed; you can see black dirt in between the tiles (GROSS!)
- shower curtain was worse; with black spots at the bottom part of it. should make do w/o the curtain.

Overall;
what you pay is what you get. I couldn't ask for more but seriously, this place could do better given a good location for it.

I stayed with this hotel for A night on 27th July , I used my new credit card( NO OTHER TRANSACTION MADE BEFORE)
To my shock on the 1st August Early morning 0300-0400hrs I received alert message from the credit card company mentioning that my card has been charged for 3 transaction on paypal, paypal gave me the person’s name who tried to use my credit card for 3 transaction in the wee hours. Obviously, one of the staff in the hotel is a crook trying to use my card for some online purchase.
I was even more surprised further because I tried getting in touch with the Hotel’s General Manager for two days in vain. He neither returned my calls or even tried replying my messages. Finally, I walked down to the reception and lost my cool with one of the staffs and he gave me the GM’s mobile number.
Please listen how a Hotel’s General Manager reacted to the situation. The GM Lawrence( very rude chinese gentlemen) who answered his phone with a very rude tone and could not wait to get off the hook. The moment I mentioned that my credit had had been cloned in the hotel his straight answer was the he cannot do anything and was very quick to just tell be to report to the police and cancel my card. This gave me an immediate impression that he gets many calls on credit fraud in the hotel. There was no apology or to the extend a kind word from him. He even hang up on me before I could finish my ordeal(my phone bill proven the duration of the conversation between I and him). All he said was I give my email you just send the complain to me.
I cannot get over the thought that the owners of this property can actually employ such a sloppy gentlemen for a GM. In the hospitality industry this is the first time I have met a General Manager with such a caliber. How is Malaysia going to succeed in bringing in the tourist especially in Johore now. I am a malaysian and I feel so ashamed and angry to be treated this way. Can you imagine if I was a foreigner?

Dear MB Group/Owner of Amansari hotel, Please if you keep such people in your property with no integrity you will soon see your property down the drain.

Dear friends, please think twice before using this hotel. Amansari Johor Bahru.

Came to Amansari for a three day stay, expecting the worst (it's true) - but was met with a clean hotel room (and toilet), nice staff and a great stay overall.

Checking in was smooth and fast (maybe because it was on a Monday), and the location was just perfect. Opposite the new KOMTAR and just a stone's throw away from City Square Mall.

Contrary to what some reviews say, it is really not dangerous, just be friendly with the locals hanging around and you should be perfectly fine. There is an overhead bridge (linked to City Square) just 5 mins away, and there are many buses near the hotel going to places like Senai, Kulai etc.

Taxi is easy to get as well, just outside the hotel. Room wifi was slow at times but with it being free in a 3 star hotel is more than enough. Videos can be watched even at night, at 720p. Room was not very big but very cosy with a great view of the city.

Aircon could be set easily, and was cold enough even at 20 degrees. Bed was clean and tidy, and there was more than enough space to walk around - toilet was clean (I was quite surprised) and the heater works so well.

TV had 15 channels including HBO, but could have been better if there was Astro Sports! Room service was fast and efficient, free toilet rolls and even toothbrushes. Breakfast was so much better than what others said, but you should come early because the early bird gets the worm.

Went in at 7am in the morning and was greeted by around six main dishes to choose from, excluding rice, fruits and some cakes. Coffee, tea, juices were also available, so it was more than enough for a hearty breakfast.

Staff was always friendly whenever we asked for something (maybe because we were friendly too!) Free newspapers from The Sun could be found at the lobby, while paid newspapers were available for browsing. Minimart was just below the hotel and open till late (11pm or so), offering drinks, food and stuff like shampoo at market rates - without a ridiculous increase in prices.

Food can be found just beside the hotel, in those food shops that sell food from as cheap as RM 1.50. Overall a great stay, and I'd definitely come back again!

Just to clarify, I wasn't paid to write this - I was really that satisfied! :)

Stayed 2 nights and 3 days , booked Deluxe King
April 30 -May 2 2014

Positive:
Centrally located
Room was at the highest floor
City view from the room
Toilet/shower design is simple and nice

Negative:
*Room is so small, if you have a good budget consider getting a suite if they have or the most expensive room, maybe it is way better.
* First room given was so hot, airocn is not functioning well, transfeered to a different room
*No 24 hr room service , if you need anything you need to wait for the next day.
* No sleepers given, we asked for it we have to wait for 1 1/2 day before we got it (shuck just for hotel sleepers)
*TV reception is bad , we had to adjust it ourselves and waitied for hours before we got it fixed, but from time to time the reception goes bad
*Beed sheets has some stains and quite itchy
*No closet, provided 2 hangers foryour clothes
*Only 2 electrical plugs, we use one for the fridge sow we only have 1 left.
*Say hello to the cockroach near the toliet door!!!
*The breaksfast is so so..but if you eat later than 9:30am expect to see some ants in the food area.
*If your room is facing the city, expect the city noise from vehicles passing by.

Over-all the stay is not good ! You can try it if you want! Good luck

Pictures attached for reference!

Given the cheap price booked through agoda, I can say that it is definitely worth it. Location is perfect - directly opposite of the shopping mall, near train checkpoint, simple amenities provided, strong WiFi connection. Nothing much to complain about given the price of the hotel. Came here the third time and still loving it.

Spent 4 nights on a work trip. It was convenient as I only had to cross the road to work place.
I upgraded to King bed at 16 sqm. Room was clean on first night. Second night onwards floor became quite dusty. It was not carpeted . Sheets and towels were change daily but i guess they just did not mop the floor. I am always barefooted in room so it was quite uncomfy to have dusty floor . I ended up wiping the floor myself. Cafe is only open for breakfast. Closed after that. Have to eat out before you go back to hotel. Basic amenities like kettle and coffee are there. No hairdryer. Have to sign a loan chit to borrow one. No wardrobe, no safe deposit box, no fridge. only two hangers .Ciggie smoke keeps creeping into room. Must be next door occupants . ( boy, they were so noisy , even till late at night ). About 263 rooms, but with only two lifts working, you gotta be patient ( and I mean really patient in the morning ) to wait for the lift. Overall it was a good stay. I'd still come back coz it is convenient. But gotta be really daring when crossing the road. Really putting your life at risk here when there is NO pedestrian crossing at all.
