The Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel garners praise for its spotless accommodations and well-kept facilities, with guests often complimenting the cleanliness. Its service is acclaimed for staff professionalism and attentiveness, although there are some minor grievances regarding laundry services. While the hotel's rooms are lauded for being spacious and comfortable, a few guests encountered AC issues. I stayed at this hotel for a business trip, and the facilities were great - gym, pool, darts game! The buffet dinner and breakfast were just amazing - they had everything you could think of from all around the world! Room was very spacious with a good view, but the best thing was the bathroom! 2 different shower heads, big modern shower space - it was just what you needed after a hard day working. Staff were always very friendly and helpful too. Loved this hotel!

Stayed at this property for one night in December. We redeemed our SPG points.

Check in and check out was seamless and fast. Initially the booking to redeem points allowed only double beds but the staff was kind to provide us a room with a king bed instead.

The room was clean. Got a non-smoking floor and it was good, no cigarette smell. The bedsheets are nice and comfortable and the towels were fluffy as well. The sound proofing was good also, wasn’t able to hear the neighbours.

After travelling through Malaysia for 4 weeks North to South we finally arrived at our last hotel stop and it didn't disappoint us. The reception area is very large and classic looking, the receptionists were efficient and we checked into our club room a couple of hours early.

The room itself was spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, the bed was very comfortable. We explored the hotels facilities and found that there wasn't a bar area ( pub) downstairs that was advertised and put that down to the fact that the hotel is halal which has to be respected, so we could understand the reason why consuming alcohol was discouraged in certain areas.

We utilised the swimming pool and enjoyed it. The breakfast was the best throughout our travels , the roti canai being particularly good. A thank you to the breakfast staff also, all of them very polite and efficient.

We used the club room every evening between 6pm-9pm and was initially surprised at how busy it was, we struggled to get a seat on the first evening. The facility itself was excellent though, a nice selection of food and free flow drinks was very enjoyable. Yet again, the staff were very nice and quickly cleaned and cleared each table. The beer and wine was self service but I also had a glass of cognac every evening to finish off, that was delivered by the lounge staff..thank you.

We have no hesitation in rating this as a 5 star hotel and good value for money. To finish our stay the wonderful concierge arranged our hotel transfer over the border to our hotel in Singapore, a very smooth operation if you have heavy luggage. . Thank you to all the staff at the Rennaisance for looking after us both so well.

The front desk and breakfast was good. But poor services at the swimming pool.

The towel at the swimming pool is much smaller compared to the standard towels of most 5 star hotel. I had to ask for 2 towel and was told that each guest was only given one. When I asked again for 2 towels, I was told, in a very unfriendly and authorative manner that it is the hotel practice(stingy) to give only 1. I believed this could also make the job of the pool attendance easier because he have less used towel to collect.

Please do not claim to be a 5 star hotel when your swimming pool only offers 3 star services.

Dear starttotraveltoday, Thank you for your review and it saddens us that you were disappointed with the services by the pool attendant. It seems despite your good regards for the Front Desk and breakfast buffet, your overall experience was affected due to the pool side and indeed we regret the shortcoming. Please entrust that we will address this matter to the relevant department for their correction and improvement. We hope you understand that it is not in our intention to attend with such mannerism and we will definitely sought for the improvements needed. We do hope in spite of the experience above, you will allow us a chance to welcome you back to our hotel as we'd love to have you with us again.

Location: the hotel is located far from almost everything. No attractions nearby neither anything to do. City center is 10 to 15 minutes drive where you can find shopping malls, food options & entertainments. Legoland is 30 minutes drive.

Room: I have stayed is executive suite. The suite is spacious and decently maintained. The cleaning could be improved. Nothing special about the room but the awkward thing is that the closest is located inside the bathroom. No nespresso machine in the suite.

Facilities: the facilities are ok, nothing wow about the hotel. In my opinion based on visits to so many 5 starts hotels, I would rank this hotel at 4 stars. The pool area is ok and GYM is available.

Services: the staff is very helpful and friendly. Once you step into this hotel you will definitely feel that you are welcomed. The restaurant (breakfast & dinner buffet) service is good.

Overall: the hotel is decent compared to the price. Location is no so great. With House keeping improvements and better maintenance, the hotel could be much better.

Went for a quick one night stay at this property. Been holding off staying here due to the location being a little far off, but it was not so bad after all.

Arrived before 3pm and room was ready. I find it especially peculiar than King bedded rooms cost more than Twin bedded rooms.

No upgrades given as a lowly Gold elite member. Breakfast was offered at RM60 per pax since I booked the room without breakfast.

My room was on the ninth floor, facing the opposite side of the rooms since the building is shaped like a V. Room was functional, good selection of TV channels, and loved the anti slip flooring in the shower area. They also have grab bars in the bathroom which can be useful for the elderly with reduced mobility.

There’s a plethora of shops around the hotel, with eateries and convenience stores just a stone’s throw away. There’s also an Aeon supermarket closeby.

Breakfast at BLD was pretty amazing, wide selection of food items.

Will definitely return soon.

Hotel seems to have been around for a while with some elements looking a little tired & in need of a revamp, but overall its value for money. The rooms are good, I'd say refurbished in the last couple of years with nice interiors, comfy beds, plenty of space, one of the most intense(in a good way) rainwater type showers & well appointed extras. Easy to connect fast reliable wifi throughout the hotel.

As a suggestion, a pod style coffee machine in the rooms would do wonders for guests. The breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of choice, fresh fruits, juices, eggs made to order & pretty much anything else you could want catered to all tastes & nationalities. Big shout out to Eza Arba who was such a lovely lady to greet you when you arrived for breakfast & made you feel special, wishing you a wonderful day as you left & seemingly remembering her guests each day.

The buffet dinner for those preferring to stay in provides good quality food inc. seafood, oysters on weekend for a good price. The Executive lounge gets rather busy, so be prepared for a lot of people in this space, but the food was a good mix of vegetarian(our preference) & meat choices, looks like some people make this their dinner.

There are several restaurants, bars, hawker type places very closeby, no need to be worried walking around the area & a shopping centre with huge supermarket closeby.
I know its a cultural thing, but I really wish the hotel would pressure the Chinese restaurant on-site to remove anything related to Shark Fin dishes as its a horrible practice & should be illegal.

The gym & pool are great, skip a morning workout & go to the gym later in the day & you'll likely have it to yourself.

Head down to the Marina for some great restaurants to eat for dinner, only a short & cheap grab ride away.

There isn't really too much to do in the area unless you want to go to Legoland, so depends on your itinerary if this is the best way to see Malaysia.

A little store inside the hotel with drinks, snacks and other amenities would be great, or even vending machines.

In summary, thanks for a good stay, the friendly staff, comfy beds :)

good sized rooms, clean, food is good. the location is a bit low key, but there are plenty of restaurants of the local variety, and a small mall within walking distance. Ive had to stay in Johor many night recently on business and this is my go to hotel. fitness center is good, pool is underutilized during the week, but can have a number of kids on the weekends. I spent 3 weeks there recently, and there were no problems.

Stayed 3 nights here at the end of April. Nice looking and a clean hotel with good service. My biggest problem was the distinctive smell of cigarette in my non-smoking room. I called the reception about the problem and their solution was to send a maintenance person in my room to spay around with an air freshener. That solved the problem maybe for 30 minutes until the smell returned.
I stayed in the same hotel in 2019 October and remember the same problem from back then.

There are plenty of places for dining in around the hotel within couple minutes walking distance. Walking paths are missing so be prepared to walk on the side of the street and in the middle of the cars. Might be challenging for families with small children and/or trolleys.

With help from Shirley, we manage to book a suite and a connecting deluxe room in last minute, which perfectly fit 5 of us. Shirley also offered a very attractive package and membership, therefore we could access the lounge and got certain discount in the restaurants.

Front desk staff are friendly, check in and check out process are quite fast. Overall hotel rooms are ok, have some room for improvement ( i.g toilet sink is not draining properly)

Breakfast buffet have a lot of choices (western, Chinese, Indian, Malay…) Food in the Chinese Restaurant is nice (More Cantonese favour), price is reasonable.

For Location, around 30 mins (40Ringgit fare) taxi ride to Legoland and 15 mins (20 Ringgit) to AEON shopping mall (have a very Funful indoor playground)

For facilities, there’s a swimming pool and gym, not much for kids, enough for adults.

Overall, my stay in Renaissance is pleasant and will come back again
