Dirty sheets, towels with holes in it that felt like sandpaper, very outdated interior (1970s something), weird smelling elevator. Very noisy due to single glazing, we were kept awake by the bar in the street, the people on the opposite of the building were woken up by the mosque. The staff was very friendly, but it couldn't make up for...

This was a good, centrally located budget hotel (about AUD$28/night). The room and furnishings were dated, but for the budget price, it was clean, comfortable and quite (our room was a number of floors up) with lift access. The staff were very helpful. I stayed in March 2011, and would stay at the Orient Hotel again.

My family stayed for 3D2N in adjacent room. 1 is the family room while another is the standard. The family room is rather spacious with good view, equipped with a fridge, yet there is no tea-making facilities provided. I feel that a kettle should be provided in the family room. As for the standard room, well...it's just "standard". Just two...

The rooms are not refurbished and poorly maintained. The furnitures looked like it is from early 80s. Even the lobby looked unchanged since the 80s. If you are a fan of retro stuffs, this is the place for you. However the location is great, and it is near to most of the historical colonial bldgs of Penang. It is also...

This is an old Chinese hotel. We chose it after having seen lots of hostels located on the Love Lane and Chulia Street. This one had at least a private bathroom and a lot of space in the room... As mentioned in the previous reviews, the furniture is old and completely outdated, with exception of bed, which is quite comfortable...

Though hotel furniture & equipment is really overaged & worn, but we could sleep well in this hotel and all things were at least working. Walls and ceilings shout for a new painting. AC is centralised, you cannot adjust temperature, but luckily it was not too cold for us (usually we set AC to 25-27 °C). Quiet rooms, comfortable bed...

A bit old, but clean. Rooms very spacious with huge windows. AC .......... freezing, but you have got "door" to close it :) New bathroom, daily cleaning service. Location is advantage of this hotel: close to Little India, in the center, just few steps from Bus stop to Penang Hill. We'd seen 5 guesthouses before Oriental hotel - it was...

Stayed as an overnighter, the rooms are pretty old, air-conditioning was freezing. As the location was quite good and the price reasonable it is ok for short stay. Next time I will stay elsewhere as there are better options.
