After 10 days in Sarawak we can warmly recommend the Kura Kura Homestay, it was the best place we have ever been: a friendly atmosphere, deep insights into the local bidajuh life along the Sarawak river, home grown, fresh fruits and vegetables from the jungle jard, delicious and very tasty meals, great knowledge of jungle plants and animals, intersting and adventuring activities...

We visited Kurakura Homestay three years ago on our trip to Sarawak. When we decided to go back to Sarawak, we decided to come back to this lovely place. And we were not disappointed! Kurakura was - again - the best place to stay during our three week trip to Sarawak and Sabah. All the raving reviews on Tripadvisor are...

I am writing this review after a 24 day vacation on Malaysian Borneo with my wife, where we visited some of Lonely Planets "Top Choice"s and Tripadvisor high-scorers in Santubong, Kuching, Miri, Mulu, KK and Kota Belud. And there is no doubt in our minds, our 4D/3N with Lars and Liza was the best and most complete experience. It is...

Before we came to Borneo we had a picture in our heads of the rainforest experience we wanted - after a week or so travelling around it started to seem a bit of a hopeful dream, until we came to Kurakura. The location is just sublime - surrounded by dense forest seemingly untouched by man, only accessible by a beautiful...

We have great memories of our stay, which was all we hoped it would be. The ride up the river from the village was a perfect introduction to our stay. Lars and Lisa's hospitality was great, as was Lisa's cooking. I hope she does write her cookbook one day! The rooms are simple with mosquito netting over the bed, there...

Lars and Lisa have got this so right! We were not sure about staying in a family home but Lars made up comfortable right from the moment he picked us up from our hotel. He is so knowledgeable about the area and made us feel safe in the jungle; we tried things we would never have done on our own...

Our stay at KuraKura Homestay was the highlight of our 4 weeks holidays in Malaysia. We stayed 2 nights ( 3 days) with our 2 adult sons and enjoyed every minute. Lars picked us up at our hotel in Kuching and drove us to the market to do some shopping. The homestay can only be reached by boat and 2...

This was a great way to spend a few days surrounded by jungle. Lisa is a great cook and there was always plenty of great, freshly cooked food. She also took us walking through the jungle to pick vegetables and herbs for dinner, also pointing out many other plants and their medicinal properties. The house is nice with broad verandahs....

Looking back at our around the world trip: Kurakura definitely was one of our highlights. When we made a reservation some months before we arrived we were advised that early Jan is still rainy season. Well, in the rainforest we usually expect (some) rain so we went. And we had quite a lot of rain indeed! Which became part of...
