We had not visited this hotel previously so did not know exactly what toexpect - my husband uses a wheelchair so we need to choose carefully where we go. The staff at this hotel really were most helpful and considerate, anxious to please us and make our stay as comfortable as possible. They provided ramps where necessary so that we could access areas where there were steps. They were also very helpful when my husband used the pool, he does have limited mobility and each time we approached the pool there was always someone there ready to assist. The hotel is quite small and has an intimate feel. There are only about 86 rooms, consequently the staff get to know the guests which makes it more personal. Our air conditioned room was on the ground floor as we had requested, positioned close to the pool and pool bar which was convenient. The patio doors opened onto a private veranda, looking out across the pool and neat, nicely kept gardens. There is a lovely beach with a buoyed-off safe area for bathing. There are also numerous beach and aquatic activities available, some of which are free. The food in the restaurant is buffet style and we thought the quality and variety was very good. They also have an al a carte menu for which there is an extra charge. The restaurant staff were anxious to please and would try to oblige if you had any special requests. It was a relaxing holiday and we would very much like to visit again. I am happy to recommend this hotel.…
This is our second time staying at Veranda Palmar Beach Hotel. The first being our Honeymoon in January 2015. This time we were celebrating my wife's 40th birthday. The hotel location is perfect for those wanting a relaxing , get away from it holiday- with enough going on to keep you entertained if the weather interupts your sunbathing ! The Hotel: all the facilities in your room you could need, including a "mini bar" filled once a day. Our maid Khushi was amazing , and our room was always spotless, and her towel art made us smile every day. The beach has free water-sports which we used, including surf canoes and stand up paddle boards, we always found a bed on the beach, although if you desperately wanted one under a shade, you had to be there earlier than most ( although this didn't bother us at all) there is a beach bar open from midday wish till late afternoon as well as the main poolside bar open from 11- late. All the bar staff are friendly and soon know your names and room numbers Entertainment:- there are things going on every day from towel art lessons to free sample massage. in the evening there is a variety of different shows. The Spa. we used the spa on a number of occasions and felt is was very well prices with great service. The Restaurant the food is all buffet style in the main restaurant. we found reading the reviews before our trips that food seems to be something people enjoy moaning about- in OUR experience :- there was always something for everyone, and if you really didn't find something , ( Really??) Then Chef would always cook something you did want. Kids ( and some adults) are always catered for with burgers, pizzas and chips available. We enjoyed the variety at lunch and dinner- especially the Mauritian section with local style food and flavours. We never had chips in the restaurant - and I for one loved that fact. I could go on and on about the food , how great the omelettes were and the puddings- but that's just our opinion. as my wife I pescatarian , it was lovely to both have a number of options each meal time. you also have the option to have a meal at the beach restaurant - as well as dinner at a supplement. we had both and cannot praise this enough. The Staff and Management :- Jean-Marie , and all his management and staff , we feel, are a credit not only to Veranda Resorts- but give the Mauritian people a great reputation. Nothing was too much to ask. No problem was too small, and was treated urgently, and we honestly felt they wanted to give us a perfect holiday. Overall :- In my opinion, I couldn't recommend this hotel and its management/staff enough. We are already looking at going back in 2021. Caveat :- Veranda palmar Beach is a 3+ star hotel. Please don't expect hundreds of rooms, numerous swimming pools, a-la-cart restaurants by the dozen. This is a hotel that offers amazing service, the personal touch, and help make memories we will carry forever. We left feeling we had made true friends in Mauritius.…
Due to is only landing in Mauritius at 9.45 and a 2hour wait at customs we only landed up arriving at the hotel around 12 at night. Exhausted and hungr, the staff were friendly enough and and thankfully had left us a meal in our room... However the food was stale and had obviously been sitting for a while. There was also a corporate function happening still when we arrived and the music played until early hours of the morning. The Shower had a thick layer of mild between the tiles and there was a constant smell that lingered in the bathroom as the ventilation was not very good despite a small window in the room. The bed and room itself was very comfortable and suitably cleaned and serviced everyday. The location itself was absolutely stunning! The food was not great at all! Most selections tasted the same as the same spicing was used across. The food also seemed to be repurposed if it was not finished the meal before: chicken breasts became chicken pasta the next meal... Which then became chicken pasta salad the next meal. The food was bland not always fresh. The water offered tasted terrible and it was almost impossible to get bottled water at the hotel. We booked a trip on the catamaran which we were really looking forward to... Only to be told two days later that it was actually booked out and that they had moved is to the pirate ship instead. Disappointed, we went on the pirate ship anyway and enjoyed the experience regardless... However when the meal was served onboard we were only offered chicken and salad while the other half of the boat were given Crayfish. We were then told that we had not requested, however this was never offered to us as an option! Our hotel shuttle service was also 1hour late to collect us after the trip. The entertainment was not very good as it only started after 8 and the performers were not very experienced compared to performers we have seem before in Mauritius. We were looking forward to daily planned activities, however the majority of them never happened when scheduled. This was unfortunate as we were there over a cyclone and there was not much else to do at the hotel during this time. As part of the deal it offered the option for us to travel between Veranda hotels to see different parts of the island... However, when we requested to do just that we were told that it would not be possible as it was peak season. THIS WAS NEVER STATED TO IS BEFORE HAND and was actually one of the big pulling points for us to book with them. All in all we spent a large amount of hard earned money on a very frustrating and unsatisfying holiday that has left us not wanting to go back to Mauritius any time soon!…
Stayed here for a week in January, can honestly say we were made to feel very welcomed, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, the rooms were lovely decorated and spacious, and cleaned every day with fresh towels, the beach bar was lovely and food served there was great, the main restaurant served a variety of food and there was something for everyone to enjoy, we hired a car for the day costing, £60 and drove around the island, this was a great way to see everything, would definitely return
This resort is a dream come true!! The service is 5 star, the beach is perfect paradise. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The kids club is excellent. I would 100% recommend this resort to families traveling to Mauritius.
