... you have a room with a sea view. A rocky shoreline at low tide and waves crashing right under your window at high (the double glazing helps to reduce the noise). I guess the rooms on the other side look out at the wall opposite on a narrow alley. The reception area has a wow factor to it but...

My room was beautiful, with an amazing view on the ocean, very clean and comfortable. The location in the medina is great. Breakfast is excellent, and the staff is very pleasant. This is a very good hotel if you are looking for a peaceful place, and not for luxury or trendiness. The only caveat is that the common area where...

This hotel is located in the medina, next to the see, but nevertheless rooms are peaceful thanks to sounproof windows... Breakfast can be taken on the roof with a very nice view to the see and the city. Our guests were very kind and thoughtful.

Pleasant stay, accommodating staff, attractive lobby, decent rooms. Easy walk to just about everywhere. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. Had a massage and Turkish bath - they had to use a regular hotel room for the massage, but had a room for Turkish bath... I expected spa type accommodations but all in all a good stay.

Hi there! My and my girlfriend spend two nights at Dar Al Bahar and the first impression when we arrived was "wow". We booked our stay in "Malika" room which has a window in the sleeping room facing to the sea. There is nothing between this window and the sea besides some seagulls flying around. First thing I did was...

Directly on the sea in the center of medina, yet very peacefull. Unfortunately the rooms are rather dark and not good lamps. Also the walls around the roof terrasse are so hight, that you have to stand up to see the wonderfull ocean right below you. But on the other hand it's rather cheap.

There's nothing like slowly falling asleep with the sound of seagulls calling waves breaking over the reefs. That's what you get at Dar Al Bahar. Nice location along the ramparts of Essaouira, Dar Al Bahar is a quaint restaurant with extremely friendly staff and a traditional feeling. Clean rooms, good breakfast, free wifi, and many restaurants and sightseeing opportunities within...

A nice Dar! Clean presentable and accommodating hosts. Great views with sound of sea waves rocking you off to sleep. Breakfast basic but fine. Could do with a few more options such as toast or eggs. Prepare to park car outside of medina and walk to the Dar as it is at the far end best to park in port...

We booked through booking.com which certainly helps in Morocco. Staff was great, helpful and accommodating. View from certain rooms is great, but you do pay for it. Terrace has a stunning view as well and breakfast is basic but very satisfying. Overall, if you care for a view and sound of sea to put you to sleep and wake you...

As a solo traveller, I stayed in the room on the ground floor for two nights and while the room was small, it was neat and clean and suited me just fine. The light in the bathroom could have been brighter, so shaving was more of a challenge, but hot water came on instantly, so I'll take that! Breakfasts are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dar Al Bahar is certainly the name it deserves: the house by the sea.Built on the ramparts of the city of Essaouira in the "San Dion" area, she faces the ocean and its trade winds. From the terrace the view is one of constant movement, winds breaking against the rocks of the coast, offering an amazing spectacle. From there, you can also enjoy the panoramic view over the medina with its northern fort of the ancient Scala and the Mellah (the former Jewish quarter). In the distance, you can see the sand dunes, which actually touch the northern outskirts of the city. Jean-Claude and Lise, a french-dutch couple, have completely renovated this house which was built at the turn of the last century. At that time, this part of Essaouira was much more animated thanks to the presence of an authentic windmill which formerly provided flour for the city and the back country. At this place, a new hotel has been built but the street name remained: Touahen, which means ‘mill’ in Arabic.Today, the peacefulness of this place is only disturbed by breaking waves and shrieking seagulls.During October 13-17, 2012, the town of Essaouira witnessed the filming of parts of the third season of "Game of Thrones", the popular medieval fantasy series. On October 15, some of the scenes were filmed on our street and near Dar Al Bahar, both almost magically transformed in a medieval set by the crafty crew, some of them also being our guests in the hotel. For the current and future fans of the series, we share some of our photos of the stars, extras and set, and, for those wishing to experience the "Game of Thrones" atmosphere, we look forward to having them of our guests. You will certainly have a pleasant stay in Dar Al Bahar ! ... more   less
