Accommodations were basic but clean and comfortable. Hot water with good water pressure . Beds okay. No nightstand for cell phone, alarm clock, eyeglasses, etc. Room rate quoted was for 2 adults. Traveled with a family of 2 children. They booked a standard room with 2 double beds, and one child and one adult slept in each bed. The hotel charged a DOUBLE room rate, insisting the 2 children be billed as 2 additional adults. What should have been a low-season room rate of $44 ended up being an $88 room. Children were ages 6 and 10. Hotel boasts a restaurant, but it closed very early so dinner was not available. A request to purchase a simple ice cream treat for the children would not be accommodated by hotel staff & nearby facilities were closed on a Sunday. No parking available except on the street around the central park. Would not return here for lodging unless traveling as a single person or couple.…
We stayed one night at Hotel Rex. Although the room was somewhat small, it was clean and comfortable. We were situated on the second floor which includes a verandah where one can sit and look out at the town square in the evening. The bed was extremely comfortable.
PROS -LOW BUDGET- with retiree(pensionado) rate ($32.00) -centrally located in front of town square -nice bar -friendly people and service -comfortable beds -great air conditioning -great hot water CONS -beds need better sheets- my sheets, you could see through and did not fit the bed -needs to fix window blinds- all broken and missing slats so light shines through -parking could be difficult... we parked in the street and left our big luggage in the car -needs better shower head
An extremely well run hotel, service is awesome and friendly...thebest coffee in town with Panamá's Hojaldres. Esperanza the owner is beautiful. Ask for Samy or Hilda for service in the resturant. Highly recommended!
Stayed here two nights during Semana Santa, when other rooms in the region were fully booked. On the plus side, the rooms are clean, the prices are quite reasonable, and the veranda on the second floor provided a wonderful spot to watch the Good Friday parade. On the down side, one of the rooms had no hot water, there is no elevator, and the staff are not very friendly.
