Traveling from Panama City to Playa Vanou takes you through Citri, at about the half way point. We were tired and hungry needed a place to sleep, eat and perhaps grab a few rays by a pool. We located the Gran Hotel Azuero at about $100/night. The facilities were very nice, the room clean and spacious and the pool well equipped with lounge chairs, towels and access to drinks, the first one free. Right next door is an open air restaurant that serves a whole corvina fish fried with sides for $15. This is a great taste of local fare, if you are so inclined. We stayed but the one night, but it met all the requirements. My only issue was with breakfast. It was a buffet affair, with everything in warming trays, which is so often the case in hotels. EVERYTHING was cold and less than tasteful. The one exception was the oatmeal, which was some of the best I’ve ever had; go figure hu?…
Lovely hotel building and nice rooms but arriving after a long day travelling the pool and the pool bar closed at 6pm and I could not find anyone to get service in the hotel bar which was dark and freezing cold. In the morning the breakfast had very little choice, no bread and was served in a room with TVs with very loud Disney movies playing (there were no children present!)
Slept two nights in this hotel during my trip through Panama. It's a good place for a stay. Staff is friendly and willing to help. It includes a nice swimming pool and a good restaurant. If you book a room at the side of the pool, you won't hear any sounds from the road at the other side.
Nice new hotel with few issues Front Desk with great attention, but later on A cockroach in the bathroom Noise if you have a Balcony to the street Restaurant Service was not as it used to be Although the food was good
I planned a trip for 80 people for 10 days at the Azuero Hotel in Chitre. I don’t even know what to say-they’re our new family! Zuleyra worked with me for months via email and endured a million questions and changes. When we arrived, The front desk checked us in within minutes. In the 10 days of our stay, EVERY SINGLE STAFF PERSON has been incredible! So helpful. So accommodating. Truly feels like it’s Home. They’ve stored things in the kitchen or in offices for us. They’ve carried things. They’ve held umbrellas over our heads. They have been so gracious. English is good also! Will come back here any time I can!
