The rooms are good and the inner courtyard with a bar is charming. The pool area is great. The breakfast could be better. I would give the hotel 4 stars if it wasn’t for the reception staff. We made a reservation months ago and the hotel must have lost it. We were waiting for quite some time at the reception to get a room although it seemed like plenty of rooms were available. There was a bday party in the discotheque which is located in the hotel. Every time someone opened the door of the discotheque the music in our room was as loud as on the dancing floor.
The hotel is a nice combination of old world style but modern convenience. Comfortable rooms, well stocked bar and good food. Check in was very slow but otherwise service was find. When at the bar try the Panama rum - especially the Abuelo Centuria. Really lovely.
We stayed at La Cubitá for a family wedding. The hotel is in a great location, not too far from the shopping mall and restaurants. There is a fantastic super market on the other side of the hotel restaurant that has anything and everything you can find in the US. Service at the gelateria/sandwich area (of the market) is a bit slow and confusing. The hotel was very welcoming, beautiful and has a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel staff is very patient and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The shower leaked so I requested extra towels each day. The only complaint is with the A/C. It works well and kept us comfortable, however, the fan blows onto the bed and could not be directed away from the bed. It was also a bit noisy. I slept with earplugs and placed a pillow near my head to block the air from blowing directly onto my face. The lobby area has a bar with great bartenders who can make just about any drink, especially if rum is involved! The pool is beautiful and has a bar for drinks. The spa is near the pool and can accommodate 2 guests at a time. It offered a variety of services, however, it didn’t seem to matter what service was requested as everyone got the same massage or facial. The staff at the spa was very nice. The small chapel on the property is gorgeous and intimate. Had my son had a smaller wedding, we would have chosen La Cubitá Chapel. The hotel is dog friendly and it was nice to see the few dogs that were there. Our family had a wonderful time in Panama and staying at La Cubitá added great memories. Overall, I highly recommend La Cubitá for your stay in Chitré.…
Great accommodation, good breakfast and convenient location next to a little mall. Javier and Juan Batista are great waiters. Javier was the only one who really cared about our dessert after requesting a couple of times to different waiters. Juan was very helpful and showed good attitude. Something that other waiters working there should imitate.
Hotel Cubita was a beautiful place and the staff was exceptionally friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The meals were very good. The only negatives were lack of hot water due to a boiler break and the night noise from partying people. It was at Holiday time and that probably explains the noise level. All in all, I believe it is a great place to stay.
