Have visited here nearly annually for about 5 years. It is a remote location, half hour drive from David thru the rural country side. It is a well maintained, shop worn resort. Restaurant is very good, personnel friendly and helpful. Nice pools and a generally...More
I was booking a vacation with a "special rate" that was offered. The e-mail with my payment information did not get to Las Olas, for whatever reason.
When I contacted them, prior to my travels, and was informed that they did not have my reservation...More

I have been to a number of "resorts" in Panama that only deserve the name because of the location. Not Los Olas.
After driving over some typical Panamanian roads (that is to say, not very good), we arrived at the resort. Straight away we were...More
Sort of an eerie experience. Hotel is quite dated and grounds and parking lot are not kept up. It was so under-booked when I was there (Nov 8/17) that I thought maybe I'd stumbled upon an abandoned resort and I was at the wrong place....More

Hi Mary H
Surfers look at swell forecasts, you could do the same but look for none to small waves. Try "Magic Seaweed" website for surfers - central america south - panama - la barquetta and look for days with no stars. Typically for this area calmer ocean months would be during January and February but could happen at any time. To be safe when swimming in the ocean never go past waist deep, sometimes the ocean will be flat for a while but waves may be on the way (waves come in "sets"). Buen viaje!
