After 2 days in the Amazon jungle we were in need of a hot shower and AC, this hotel provided both. The shower the day we arrived was amazing, hot water, good water pressure, lots of space. Sadly, the morning we left there was no...More
This was my third visit and this is by far the best hotel in town. Right on the river, and give you the jungle feel / experience even though you are just a couple of blocks from the plaza. Ask fro the new rooms. They will...More
This is by far my most favourite place of the entire trip. All of the staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly. The rooms were very clean and really nice. A/C and a fridge in each room, and a full floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall glass sliding door onto...More
Before I launch into my rave-review of the Wasai lodge and activities, I encourage you to bear in mind the context of this site: you are in the middle of the JUNGLE, and this holds implications. I am giving the Wasai Eco Lodge an enthusiastic...More

I suggest you stay deeper in the amazon. The lodge we went to for zip lining was a 35 min boat ride from Puerto Maldonado main square, and was much better if you are looking to go to relax, get some peace, and explore. If you are interested in the tiny town then stay at a nicer hotel near the center plaza. Wasai is not worth the price for being one block from the square(find a more modern place), or worth the price for being in the amazon(which it really is not).

The Wasai Maldonado is in town but definitely worth a night or two stay. It sits above the Tambopata River. You might see a sloth or two at breakfast on the outdoor patio. The Wasai Tambopata is up river where you will see monkeys, parrots, piranhas, caiman, tarantulas as big as your hand, and much more. Great food too. Guides with university level knowledge of the jungle. You cannot go wrong.
