When I visited Baguio I stay here, my experience was good over all , the hotel is nice to stay l comfortable room with TV and Hot Shower, the Wifi is located at the reception and secure there's a guard at the guard and CCtV. The staff are friendly and approachable. The hotel is located near at the Mansion, Wright Park, Camp John Hay and it has great view with the mountain I love it so refreshing and very peaceful place. The foods are good too worth the price. I will definitely back here.

We love the antique vibes of this place. It has a nice breakfast views. We just called their number for reservarion. Their customer service is good. Our family room is huge. We slept well. It was peaceful place. Their rate is reasonable. Food is okay. My only problem was the mosquito in the lobby at night, it is just in the lobby. Our rooms don't have it.

If you've got a deal in Groupon for this particular hotel, well expect only the worst, as far as the room is concerned. Here are some of the few good and bad points that we've experienced during our 3d/2n stay in this hotel.

Pros:
1. Good location. It's the perfect spot for our Day 2 to 4 itinerary (Botanical Garden, Wright Park, The Mansion, Mines View Park, Camp John Hay, and Good Shepherd). I said perfect because we didn't have to make our way through the city traffic since we brought our own car.
2. Great staff. The two Jennys were the best - friendly, accommodating, and considerate. The first Jenny even allowed us to transfer to another 5-bedded room (room#23) because the first one we got (room#29) was beyond "ugly"- my kids even said, "Mommy are you sure this is our hotel? Can we just go back to our previous one?"
3. Quiet and peaceful (except for the noisy sound from the insects outside our room during nighttime and early in the morning). The noise was tolerable, however, and far better than the sound of passing vehicles that we encountered from the first Baguio hotel that we stayed in.
4. Has facilities like a videoke machine and badminton court.
5. Reception area has that homey feel.
6. Check-in/check-out were a breeze.

Cons:
1. If you got your deal from Groupon, you'll be assigned at the basement part of the hotel, even if you requested for just a 5-bedded bedroom instead of the original 10-bedded one.
2. Rooms are old and need a major renovation, especially room #29.
3. Toilet is such an ugly sight.
3. No breakfast included. Set breakfast costs Php185.
4. Parking is outside the hotel, along the road.
5. Free Wi-Fi is just in the main reception area.
6. Linens, bedsheets, towels, and pillows are old and worn-out. Plus, no comforter included. (Hello, we're in Baguio, aren't we?")
7. Not luggage-friendly. You have to go down flights of stairs if you are assigned at their basement rooms.
8. Very unfriendly manager. Didn't see her greet guests, not even a single good morning when most of the guests were in the reception area at around 7am.

So would we consider this hotel again? Maybe yes, but we'll make sure to book the rooms near the reception area.

I thought i had a good deal by paying only p2100/nite for 6nites for 7pax booked in dec2013. Made a downpaymt of p6k.when we decided to try it out earlier this oct, my kids were shocked at how creepy&old the place was. The toilet smelled like abandoned hospital. The beddings were dusty & the carpet needed vacuming! Location was isolated. With all these, we decided to check out the following day, giving a lame excuse about going back to manila early, just to be nice...so we decided to ask for the refund of the remaining p4000 of our deposit since we only used 1nite of stay. The nerve of the owner to refund us only P1500, & forfeit p2400 of our money!!! This forfeiture has no basis at all. But rather than stressing ourselves, we decided not to argue. Said owner won't get rich with our p2400. In fact, the hotel should close down for being the worst hotel we have ever stayed in!!!

I haven't had the heart to check the reviews for this hotel before buying a deal from Groupon (biggest mistake!).

My cousin and I wanted to treat my Dad and two of my cousins to a 3D/2N vacation in Baguio so we thought we hit the jackpot upon seeing the price we'll be getting for a 10-bedded room at this hotel.

The pictures were okay (of course) and we really thought the deal was too good to be true.

Long story short, from outside the hotel to the reception area, it was what we've seen in the pics. Staffs were nice and gave us a 12-bedded room because they said the 10-bedded room is undergoing some serious shimmy. We didn't have any problem with that until we're assited to go down 3 flights of stairs (with heavy luggages at hand), to our room.

The room smells very old, the hallway was creepy, the bathroom's clean but their heater is not too reliable.

I went back up to ask if they have a room that is nearer to the reception area because my Mom and Dad (both Sr. Citizens) were having difficulty going up and down the stairs. They said the only other rooms that could accomodate our number was another floor lower from our room. Mom said let it be and asked for the menu instead. Hell yeah it was pricey and not all on the menu were available. So if you decided to go on a midnight snack, their restaurant wouldn't be of much help.

At night, we could not sleep right away because there were insects crawling in our beds and floor. The tv reception was bad and the room was very gloomy because of the poor lighting.

We considered transferring to another hotel but most hotels nearby where fully booked.

I could come back here but this hotel would definitely be the last in my list.

My family had a great time on this place. It was raining half of the time we were there in Baguio but we still had fun in this hotel because they have Videoke and Wii. People are polite and accommodating there too.
We like the ambiance- though it's an old place, we felt we really are in Baguio and not just some random hotel anywhere.
If there is one thing that bothered us- it is the shower. We needed to come twice to the reception to asked them to help us fix the hot water.
Despite that, this hotel made our family of 20 happy!!

This is not a hotel but just an inn.

It is located in a quiet part of Baguio. The hotel looked like it was a big house that was converted to a hotel. There is nothing with that except that we stayed in a room that looked like servants' quarters. It was behind the house and the entrance way is through the side of the building.

This is not a place to stay for those who have problems with mobility. The property is below the level of the road and one goes down so many steps with no elevator. There are no staff to help with the luggage. Going out means climbing the many steps. It was exhausting. It was a chore to go out of the hotel especially at check-out time.

Do not expect a very clean room. The walls need painting. The beds need new mattresses. The bathroom needs to be retiled. There was insufficient lighting.

Stayed here with my family twice now. It is like a home away from home.Rooms are clean and spacious. Water is not a problem. Yes, it might sound creepy when you walk as it is an old house turned into a hotel..... But that is not really bothering. All in all. the place is much better than a 3 star hotel.

If you're looking for a affordable place, distant from the noisy city, villa la maja is the right place.
Hidden from the tall pine trees of the famous baguio city, a small simple "villa la maja hotel and restaurant" awaits at the highway of the.
I honestly find it weird that the entrance is small but once you start to go inside youll be amaze how big it is. The architechtry of it still amaze me. It somehow gives you sense of being at home.
The rooms are old but clean. There are shower heater in the bathroom with strong flow of water. And oh, there are many couches and tables outside the rooms. And to those self concious, dont worry there are mirrors in almost every corner which sometimes gives me the creeps. Speaking of creeps, the stairs which lead to every floor of the hotel most of the time squeeks whenever someone walks on it. Not to mention that the rooms are not soundproof makes it worse at night.
Dont worry night at la maja hotel has something good to offer. With its old style lamps and decorations can turn its gloomy ambiance into romantic one. Just being able to sit at its restaurant outiside is surely marvelous. Though the prices is a lil bit high for a dinner for two, I highly suggest you the chopseuy which the restaurant offers. You would love to be a vegan if you do.

All in all I highly recommend this to group of friends who are seeking for adventure. The young the better, bec oldies will having a hard time going up and down the stairs.
3/5 stars, bec of cheap price.

I was surprised on some of the complaints I've read with regards to this hotel, this is a budget-type one, so do not expect miracles

we are a group of 4 when we stayed here 3D/2N if my memory serves me right. the room spacing is sufficient, it has a badminton court outside, our items are safe and secured even if we go out for long periods of time, the location is very good (a healthy walk to Wright park and nearby places, that's nice), and it's cheap

on the bad side, the insects are prevalent, the hot water knob in the shower is spotty, and so is the Wi-Fi, even at lobby area, food is a touch too expensive, and the room itself is far from sound-proof, you can hear kids running up and down the floor, curfew hours sorely needed (lol)

all in all, you get wat you pay for!
