Makati Shangri-La, Manila is celebrated for its elegant ambiance and nostalgic allure, though some guests suggest parts of the hotel could use a refresh. The convenient location near the airport and shopping centers is a highlight for many visitors. While the range of amenities, including the Horizon Club lounge and pool, is generally lauded, some travelers have reported service delays. Room experiences vary with commendations for comfort and cleanliness but criticisms over maintenance and noise. Despite the overall cleanliness and instances of exceptional hospitality, the value proposition has been questioned by guests who feel the cost does not always match the service and amenities provided.

In short, it is a good hotel. It is well located in Makati, near the Greembelt leisure and shopping center and therefore you have a good handful of restaurants close at hand. The rooms are comfortable, some with beautiful views, and what they serve for breakfast is delicious. I really like that it is easy to book online on their official website.

The rooms was a good size, we had a king size bed and my kids had 2 single beds. The decor is retro and I loved it. It's so clean. We stayed for 6 days and enjoyed every day.
Our rooms got cleaned everyday, the cleaner was also great for if you need extra water, anything you need is cater for, one day I needed extra tea bags and it came straightaway,
The swimming pool wasn't too busy and the service was also great, the lounge lobby was amazing to sit, drink cocktails, catch up with friends and listen to live music.
Nads and the manager looked after our family so well at the lounge lobby cafe, we kept coming back.

I can't fault Shangrila Makati, I even ask them for an extended check-out and that was ok too.
We have been stayed her at least 5 times.
It's also so close to all the yummy restaurants and shopping centres. We loved this hotel as it's close to all amenities. We will definitely be back.

I am a member of Shagri-la circle and accumulated points which enable me to have a free 1 night stay. I chose to stay in this hotel for a night on my vacation in the Philippines.

Just as with other shangrila hotels that I’ve stayed, the whole experience was pleasant and great. The provide a small gift/token on arrival to the room (just like with other shangrila hotels).

I gave 4/5 review is because of the cleanliness of the hotel. Although overall it is clean, you can see some areas especially in the bathroom with moulds and obvious deterioration due to age (I think, comparing this hotel to other shangrilas that we have stayed with). It might not be too obvious though. It’s just me being really particular with cleanlines.

We had the breakfast buffet which we were given a discount to (thank you very much!). The food selection was great and the food was tasty and delicious. So, I recommend trying this on when you stay at this hotel. I also ordered through their room service, and the food was great. However, there are limited choices here.

The location of the hotel is also great as it is near the airport, and it is located near ayala malls which made it really accessible especially with travellers like me who is just transiting through Manila.

The staff are accommodating and really helpful.

This is an older property that is not up to par with five star standards and their customer service is extremely lacking.
We have stayed in Shangri-La properties across Asia and Europe. They are known for their impeccable customer service however that is not the case at the Makati location.
My reservation was made with ample time, however upon arriving at the hotel, they were not ready to receive me, furthermore they were oblivious and disregarded my confirmed, benefits such as breakfast and other items that I confirmed through my reservation.
There was no attempt to rectify the situation rather it seemed that they were more intent on provoking it and making it worse. I have filed a complaint and am reporting through my credit card company, I will be doing the same through Shangri-La international corporation. There is no possible way, that one could justify spending any money to stay at this property given its poor treatment of customers and amenities .
my recommendation is simply to stay away. don’t be fooled by their prices. It’s no wonder that they are the same price as the Holiday Inn.

First of all, the Makati Shangri-La is a nice 5-star hotel with good rooms and a great location in the city of Makati. I have been choosing to stay at this hotel for many years. However, my last experience was very disappointing.

After checking out, I realized a couple of hours later that I had forgotten some items, including a significant amount of cash meant for a foundation to help people in need. When I called the hotel to report it, they said they hadn’t found anything. I was certain of where I had left the money.

Given the hotel's reputation, I expected a reliable lost-and-found service and good security measures. It is concerning that when I reported my lost items, the hotel staff claimed nothing was found. I suspect that the housekeeping staff may have taken the cash, which was intended for charity.

I cannot recommend this hotel for leaving your belongings or any valuable items, as I no longer feel that it is trustworthy in returning lost items.

The lobby was very luxurious and the rooms were spacious and cleanly furnished, so I could spend a very relaxing and comfortable time.
The pool wasn't big, but it was beautiful and I could have alcohol by the pool and relax.
The breakfast buffet in particular has a wide variety of items, all of which are delicious and recommended.
Good location close to Makati green belt.
I'd like to stay here again.

I had no issues with the room but I was shocked at the varying charges that were put onto my bill that was not disclosed to me.

I had booked a weekly rate which did not reflect on my final bill.

That same rate also included 10% off dining in hotel which was never communicated how to use it... nor did I see the discount anywhere on my final bill.

I am not surprised by the add ons that were permitted by me such hotel transfer or room service.

BUT I am surprised that my final room charges changed and was different than what I had booked.

The staff was nice and the rooms and stay are fine but the breakfast was not worth the money. We paid around $30 USD each but while we were eating we could not finish a majority of our food. The fruit was watery, tasteless and mushy and the yogurt tasted sour and expired. The corned beef was mushy and watery, and the vegetables were cold. We are disappointed by how we spent so much money on a room and the food was below expectations. It felt like a huge rip off overall, we do not intend to come back after this experience.
