The place is peaceful. It feels like a province near the city. Far from the chaos of the city though it is only a one ride away from it. The place is also clean and comfortable and spacious at the same time.

The hotel itself is a bit worn but still visually acceptable. The rooms are spacious, clean (due to the fantastic housekeeping team), however, the room we had has tarnishing such as chips in the flooring, mold on the shower curtain, and few blemishes on the wall. This hotel offers some perks such as the pool which we found to be very disappointing because it was very dirty and even had a fishy smell, and on top of that the water appeared green on direct sunlight. Another perk of the hotel is the restaurant. Though the food is decent, it was highly overpriced. This would not be a problem if we could bring food in from the outside, but they have a ridiculous corkage fee of 500 pesos for food delivery or just simply bringing home leftovers, so if you stay here keep in mind they are very strict on this rule. Which brings me to my next point, on top of the location being overly dissatisfying, perhaps the location also causes the wifi to be unreliable and really slow. Overall, Rumah Highlands is a 2-star hotel pretending to be a 3-star with unfair rules, poor hotel management, a terrible location, overpriced services, with decent rooms and great housekeeping. But this hotel is NOT RECOMMENDED by me as it's quiet location is also it's worst aspect because of it's unfair corkage fee and the pool being as dirty as it is, the hotel is simply a DISAPPOINTMENT due to lack of management. PS. It is extremely hard to find a taxi or book a grab at this hotel.

Worst Hotel I've tried in my entire life!! Stayed there because of some free coupon but nonetheless the overall service was poor. Staffs are very slow assisting us. The hotel looks old. The room was even dark and all walls colors are kinda old fashion. Their food was not cheap. One meal is over 300 pesos and thats not cheap. They have no kettle or tea or coffee in the room, no bath robes. Towels are not so clean. When we checked out, they inspected the room and to my surprise, there was a charge for staining the towel. Unbelievable!!!Guess what, they charged me 600 pesos for the stained towel. What the heck! I've been to like 5 stars hotel in and out of the country and I never experienced this kind of service. Very poor service!! I will definitely not coming back in this hotel. Not a slighest chance.

I booked mainly because of good reviews. I don't know what kind of benchmark the reviewers who gave this hotel a 'good' or 'excellent' use. They certainly must have been staying in some pretty bad hotels to think this one was good. First of all, the room. As I have found with other Indian chains, the interior decorators seem to think that brown is cool - well, brown is gloomy and depressing. Almost everything in the room was brown, curtains. floor, furniture, sink, bathroom, even bathmat. There was only one other Indian chain hotel (in London) that surpassed this - where even the bath towels were brown. Brown is down - it makes you feel low and depressed - so not good. When we got into the room, we noticed that the door of the bathroom would not shut - we worked out it was a matter of tightening some screws - not a good start (especially after the initial 'brown' experience). On a positive note, we called and someone came quickly to fix the door - but shouldn't this have been done before someone occupied the room? And then I noticed there were no hand towels. I have never stayed in a hotel that didn't supply a bathtowel and a small hand towel per person. When we went down to reception later, we mentioned this and she said they didn't supply hand towels but if we wanted them we would have to pay - a small amount but all the same - how cheap. The instructions for using the shower are so complicated - they are hung on a notice from the shower rail. My son tried to work it out but it didn't work properly so he ended up kneeling in the bath and trying to scoop some water over him. He said it was the worse 'shower' he had ever had. And the water was cold!! The bathroom is awful. Dreadful little 'bowl' type sink - which is again - brown. Similar experience trying to work out how to use the safe - in the end we had to call someone to come and open it because we couldn't work out the instructions and it ended up with the safe locking before we had put in a code. In addition, no kettle unless you request it, no tea or coffee, and limited, poor quality bathroom minis. There's a horrid little bedside table - kind of faux rough marble and brown wood (really tacky), but no drawer and too small to put your things on. Also the wardrobe is minuscule - at first I couldn't even see a wardrobe and then spotted a tiny door in the corner of the room. One of the worst things was the poor Internet access. It just kept cutting out. It was almost unusable. The 'Sky Bar' depicted online as a vibrant rooftop bar, was actually closed, but we were told we could go up and sit there. It is actually just a roof area with a few tables and chairs but no bar! Good view, but I think it is only 'Sky Bar' when there is a demand. One of the waiters kindly said we could sit there, so we actually used it and they brought up our food and drinks from the restaurant on the floor below. The food and service were good. This was one of the few positive things I can say about this hotel. In general the views are nice and the small pool looked ok - though we didn't use it. This hotel could be a lot better with some care and attention from management. The views, service and food elevated my rating slightly, but I couldn't justify giving it more than an 'average'.

I booked on the hotel under Agoda and put a remark to make it special because of our Anniversary. Have not expected anything but benefit of the doubt that they might do something. We arrived from the airport at 6Pm and have reached at 8PM because of heavy traffic. We rode by metered taxi and cost only for 400pesos which was not bad at all compared to taxi Airport and was asking for 800 pesos. We were too tired and we managed to check in easily and gave us a room located on 7th floor. We were too exhausted and wanted to have a decent dinner at least for our Anniversary and surprisingly when we went to our room Rumah prepared and decorated some petals to our bed that made it so special. We took bath to refresh and the bathroom is so nice with a tub and has a nice temp of water shower. After a long tiring day we went to their restaurant which is Lima Restaurant and the waiters and waitresses are so accomodating. Their restaurants is simple but classy and the Sky Bar with a view of a mountain is really spectacular which made our Anniversary very special. They even offered us a 2 free welcome drink and we ordered their grilled squid which was cooked very well and sinigang na Tanigue which was too great. Food was so nice and we only paid 1600 which was not bad compared to other restaurants. We will definitely come back and will stay a bit longer as we only stayed there for a night. Place is quiet and relaxing. All staffs are accommodating and very helpful from bellboy, receptionist, waiters and waitresses and to Manang who called the cab for us. I definitely reccommend this place as it is too great and you will definitely fall in love to it.

Positives - Staff are attentive and polite, they go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable Room is impeccably clean, toiletries are organic and smell amazing. Jikitan bags laid under mattress to promote good health and vitality is a modern unique touch. Dressing gown and slippers in room for a spa vibe Pool area is clean and relaxing Vegan restuarant is sensational - food is unbelievable Negatives: Fresh juices and wholemeal bread at breakfast would be a lovely accompaniment To reduce plastic usage, refillable bottles in the room fridge would be a great idea instead of plastic bottles
