This is a budget hotel and don't expect much. We stayed on this hotel last on April 25, 2015 for 3 days. We are accommodated early and we are lucky for that. The attendant are very helpful to us and very opposite to those comments which i read. Surely we are coming back on my next vacation.

Dated hotel but all of the buildings are showing their age in the colon area. Staff are mostly friendly and rooms are mostly clean. Not the best hotel in town but pretty good for downtown/colon. Lots of cheap shopping nearby and the majority of the top sights are in the area.

Ive never been to the Congo in the 60s but id expect my hotel to look like this if I did! The staff were great and there is an upstairs restaurant just 1 min walk away up the street. Mall and pubs just a short taxi ride Ok for the price but general lack of decent accommodation at a decent...

Stayed here a couple of times in the past as the location is good for us. Always found the Mercedes a bit disappointing so this time we opted for the President Suite with the idea that surely it would be good...Big mistake, if a president ever had to stay there I fear that heads would roll! I see that another...

First arrived and payed for my first night and the employee at the desk never even offered to give my change. very unfriendly. I told the cab driver to take us to another hotel to start with but he brought us here instead. I am assuming they pay the cab drivers a commission to do this. BEWARE And we got...

This hotel disappointed me after I returned again. My reservation, made through the services of a third party reservation service was not honoured. Due to the chaos in Cebu following the disruption caused there by Super Typhoon Haiyan, I gave the hotel the benefit of a doubt and stayed anyway in a room which I did not choose. I returned...

We have just left Cebu after a most pleasant weekend stay at the Hotel de Mercedes. We were taking a break from our usual uptown lodgings and opted for a change. H de M was it and a most welcome one it was.It is old, dark and located in an 'interesting' part of the city center, as previous reviewers have...

We stayed there two nights in July and it was actually ok for the price. Our room had two windows, not all rooms have and the room was what I will call medium sized. It is a very good idea to ask to see the room before accepting it. The location was perfect for exploring Colon Street and the shops...

I stayed in this hotel already a couple of times. The building is very old, and so are the rooms. The taps in the bathroom are old, in my cas still working. But they defintely need change. The room and bed are clean, but then again everything is very old. Location is good if you like it downtown ... The...

I was introduced by a friend who stayed in this hotel when they were in Cebu City. Right now they are living in Canada. Maybe he likes this hotel because his wife's name is also Mercedes lol. Anyway I always stay here, every year when I spend my vacation in the Philippines. One time I spend one month here and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Mercedes is a favourite for local tourists and those travelling on business as the establishment is proximate to the South Bus Terminal and Piers. Nestled in a great location of Old Cebu, you are immersed in a Cebuano cultural experience. This is the choice for travellers who like to explore on foot to markets, local shops, cafes, historic sites and churches. It is rather easy to hail a cab. Plus, we have Grab Taxi services at our lobby. The look and feel of the hotel is nostalgic with wood interiors and the sound of typewriters! We have a great staff that has been with us for over 15 years! You will feel right at home. Feel welcome to ask for any tips from our bellhop and reception. Experience budget hotel rates for the smart traveller with boutique hotel service from our amazing staff. You can get rooms below Php 1000.00! Our Superior Rooms and Suites have free breakfast packages that can be served in the comfort of your room. Hands down the best deal in town! Please view our FB Page! ... more   less
