Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort is often remembered for its exceptional service, with many guests praising the friendly and attentive staff. The resort's amenities, including varied pools and a family-friendly beach, contribute to its popularity, and the live music adds a special touch to the serene atmosphere.
While the cleanliness of the resort consistently receives compliments, opinions on value diverge; some guests find the dining overpriced and underwhelming, yet others feel the pricing is justified. Comfortable rooms with beautiful views are a highlight, though a few travelers mention noise concerns.

Pretty good place. We stayed a night. Reception was friendly, stored our luggage when arrived early and told us when the room was available after finished cleaning. They drove to our room which is at the far end of the resort place. The swimming pools were great, one was shaded which was a blessing under the scorching sun of the Phillipines. The beach was nicely salted and fenced off from the sea wilderness, at shallow depth which allows kids playing. The room was nicely air conditioned and bathroom was huge for a luxurious bath and shower. There's no tv which was a let down but the main disappointment was the restaurant which was way overpriced even in hotels standards. Prepare to sell a kidney or 2 for lunch and dinner. Breakfast buffet was free for our bookings and half price of 400 peso for kids which are pretty delicious.

I stayed here with my mother and two elementary school children. Above all, the staff were kind and gentle, and we had a comfortable stay, reflecting the wonderful national character of the Filipino people. There were no problems with the room, air conditioning, refrigerator, hair dryer, towels, amenities, etc. The food at the restaurant Allegro was very delicious. They celebrated my son's birthday with a song and cake on the day. As for the pool, we could borrow life jackets and there was a lifeguard, so we were able to let our children play there without worry. The reviews about the sea were not good, so we made a reservation for island hopping, but we were able to enjoy the sea of the hotel alone. (If you want to see fish, I recommend going on island hopping.) To get from the private beach to the island, adults can only get their feet underwater before 10:00, and around 12:00 the water level rises and you can't get your feet underwater at all, so you have to swim to get back. When we went after 5:00 in the evening, the sea water was low at low tide and it was shallow, so we could walk without getting wet. Overall, it's perfect. I stayed at Pacific Cebu Resort and Shangri-La Mactan many years ago, and the location is also great, making it perfect for families with children. I would like to stay there again. By the way, the clientele was mostly Korean and Chinese, with few Japanese people, and students on their graduation trips seemed to be having a good time.

Thank you for this warm welcome. We were thankful to stay for 3 nights. The people in the reception were very helpful, not just on checkin and checkout, but also in giving directions to spots with a smile. The room was clean with the essentials spacious and quiet during the day. Though I was hesitant to book at first since I've been reading some reviews about construction noise but that was actually significant for the resorts improvement. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and the breakfasts are a delight. I am fortunate to experience also their dinner with the team "Barrio Fiesta" during Saturdays I have experience to eat the lechon and local foods again. They have live entertainment during the night. Lovely, indeed. My family and I really enjoyed the facilities. The pool were maintained clean and specially the beach were we tried their watersports activities like jetski and kayak. I love that the resort is very central within easy reach of shops, eating places and church. Upon checking out I appreciated that we can still use the facilities and the luggage area option since our flight was delayed and we have nothing to go elsewhere. Since we booked directly and stayed more than two nights it was convenient for us that we had a complimentary drop off and pick up service from the airport to resort and vise versa with a private van. Thank you for taking good care of us. All in all, It was really good value for money. We will surely visit Bluewater Maribago soon!!

I guess this resort is about average for it's price range, the staff are very accommodating and good. If you come here make sure you get an upgraded room somewhere near the beach otherwise you will may a terrible view. Also beware of some building work going on block 4. The beach is quite nice for Mactan and it is the best place to swim as the pools seem to get full of children and not appealing. Kids seem to have a great time here though. Breakfast is okay, if you eat in the restaurant i suggest you avoid the pizza because i had a Churiso pizza which was too sweet to eat. There is a nice bar with happy hour near the beach, and a seafood restaurant also with a nice view. It gets very busy here with a lot of day visitors as well especially at weekends but they have to make their money somehow. On reflection i would have paid a bit more for a better resort.

As a former member we made a point to stay at the sumilon island and blue Maribago. But this year with our experience I will not re-new my membership nor ever stay at any of their resorts. On my recent stay I inquired the cost of an extra room, I was told by Janilyn Villahermosa that being a member it would cost an additional 4,300. To clarify I asked if that was every night, she claimed it was for 3 nites. As I checked out today I noticed there was an additional 18k charge for the extra room when I questioned it Theresa at the front desk could not speak to anyone to verify. 3 hours later I Texan email from Janilyn stating that she didn’t speak with me that I was speaking to a male agent which is false when she knew that my wife and I were on the phone with here. Furthermore the comped meal that were to receive never showed in the bill. I enjoy resorts and have stayed in several places such as Plantation Bay / Crimson and Henan resorts. Would not recommend this resort, beware with the pool water it seemed that it hasn’t been cleaned for quite awhile. Cloudy water pool lining show signs of peelings my boys ended getting skin rashes from the water in the pool.

The hotel focuses heavily on day guests, who then use the same infrastructure. There are loud parties that take up the beach. During the party, very loud music plays over loudspeakers. In the room, you feel like you are sitting right next to a loudspeaker. At 6 a.m. the hotel staff organizes a beach cleanup. The idea is good, but loud announcements over loudspeakers show that the hotel management does not prioritize the guests' peace and quiet.

It’s funny that we saw the sign of their poster “our people is our brand” yet we found that the two check in counter girls that we encountered were the least friendly and unhelpful people we encountered in the whole Philippines.
Room: We booked a suite room and it was located at their spa house area - Amuma. The room itself is quite nice and spacious with a nice porch overlooking the pool and good size bathroom. We found the bed linen quite coarse for our body compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Cebu. We were happy with our room until the next day construction workers came to the two rooms right next door to start building works. We only found out about the renovation work because we found a piece of paper by our porch table explaining the construction and apology for the minor noise level that it’ll cause but this came far too late. We went to the reception that evening to ask for a late checkout until 1 pm and tell them about our concern regarding the construction and why would they given us a room right next to it. The female staff replied that their check in staff (the girl next to her) would have informed us when we checked of all the work being undertaken but this was not true because she DID NOT mention anything about any construction works whatsoever. At the reception we asked if they could keep the noise level to minimum until 10:00am to at least allow us some sleep on our holiday and she said she would talk to them. Not sure this ever happened but at around 8 AM the next day we could hear that they were getting ready and by 9 AM we were totally woken by crashing scaffolding polls and more hammering. Since the construction is right next door, the noise level was totally unacceptable. The noise was mostly caused by the use of large hammers banging metal wires into place to hold wooden boards to obstruct view. I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here while they were doing the renovation. We understand that renovation work is an ongoing need for hotel complex however the way this is being done they show no care whatsoever to paying guests. I’ve since checked on their website, it written they’re doing renovation at the suite room no 329 - 332 from October 2 until December 2 but I can’t contemplate why they put guests at rooms either side. They’re clearly caring more on money that guest satisfaction.
On the final note, the beach is right next to a port and water was quite unclean and murky with some trash compare to other resorts such as Costabella which is just nearby. We found little incentive to swim there and just stayed at the pool.

Positives: Staff were very friendly throughout our stay in the resort. The amenities were very clean, the gym and pool were well looked after. The oyster bar was a lovely place to sit in the evenings and the happy hour was good value. Laundry was done quickly
Negatives After a eating at the buffet on the second evening I had a very upset stomach. The seafood was cold and god knows how long it had been left out. Also only provided with one toilet roll which became an issue. On our 3rd day we came across 3 cockroaches in our bathroom There was a power cut for about 10 mins on the final morning The beach wasn't very attractive, very dark water and not the nicest sand/seating area Couldn't walk to the bar without getting harrasdd by men wanting to sell us day trips
After 2 nights we were more than ready to move on to our next resort. Its a shame because it has potential but the finishing touches need to be better.

There are several restaurants, fast-food and other culinary (Asian) delights nearby. We hired a van to take us around the island and had one of our meals at Lantaw Floating restaurant in Cordova.
