Detailed Reviews
The hotel has indeed a beautiful view above Cluj, the rooms are well furnished but it'S not so clean.
In the morning, breakfast was ok but poor.
I've stayed in other hotels in Romania, not so expensive but clean.

It's not a butique hotel but it is quite lovely, the rooms are large and bath too. The personnel was polite and the service ok. Breakfast was great and various. The hotel is located in a quiet area next to the cemetery at 20 minutes walk to city center.

I stayed only one night, so my opinion is based only for this experience. Hotel is on the main street coming from south side, 2 km away from the very center. They have their own free parking, but I found it full even if it was only 8PM, so I had to leave my phone number and block another car. Hotel looked to me fancy – the lobby and restaurant. The room was ok, not too big, in fact a little small for a 4* hotel, but this is a boutique hotel so it was ok. Very clean. Staff was incredible helpful and kind.
I had a very good experience for one night stay.

I don’t recommend this hotel at all. It's not a 4 star hotel. There is no non-stop reception. The room was very dirty: the floors were unvacuumed and dirty, the bathroom the same, very dirty. We also found bugs in the bathroom and on the bad. we had to leave after one night (out of the three nights we initially booked) because we couldn't stay in such conditions.

Great place really friendly staff and lovely food! Staff were really helpful in guiding us to the best spots around town. Easy access to bus stops and train stations make the place perfect for traveling in and out of the city. The food is amazing and authentic. The rooms are a great size and lovely views of the surrounding city. Alex and the rest of the staff were on hand all the time to make sure our stay was a 10/10 experience. Thankyou!!

A real worn out hotel. Curtains damaged and hanging down, fungi in the bathroom and on top the glass at the sink in the bathroom looked one that has been in use for at least a year without cleaning. When I asked at the reception if the manager was on duty I was told he wasn't. I've asked if dirty glasses like this is normal in a hotel. Hardly got any reaction. He took the glass and said to talk with housekeeping. The glass never was replaced and if you ask me they don't have housekeeping at all.
Last but not least I've never stayed in a hotel with personnel that demotivated and unpolite. Never will stay there again.

Hazard room 307 is full of Duct tape improvisation. The bathroom jacuzzi wasn’t working. Breakfast ,not like in the pictures …. you can order one of 3 options but consistent . Although the room was clean. The rooms are a massive fire hazard, health and safe. On the main corridors the hotspots are hanging on the middle of corridors no emergency lights in case of fire.

The room was very clean, with an excellent bed and good pillows. Nice & friendly staff, I had a nice stay at the hotel. The breakfast was tasty, although there was not a buffet as shown on the photos here. Parking spaces are available, although it is not so close to the center if you are on foot. An excellent experience, I would certainly go there again.

There's not much to say about this place, probably my 2nd bad experience in CJ. Looking out the window right into a grave yard was not even as close as bad from the cleanliness of this place. Bathroom was smelling and towels were trowed on the rack and the quilt was just shoved on the bed. The fridge in the room was just not working. After talking with te receptionist which she changed the room with a new new one but having complained about the view as well as all of the above she gave me a higher floor and closer to grave yard, just to have a better view.
Rooms look very used and over all it seems that this hotel was not thought towards the his guest confort. From a scale of 1-5 for sleeping quality I would rate 2.

Response from Alina A, Manager at Alex & George Boutique Hotel
Responded Mar 13, 2016
Dear Mihai M, Thank you for making us your hotel of choice while traveling to Cluj. I am sorry that your stay was not as you expected it to be. However, as much as I respect your point of view, I must strongly disagree with your comments posted here on Trip Advisor. This review is entirely irrelevant to our accommodation here at Alex & George Boutique Hotel and I wish to elaborate my affirmation: You checked in with us on 2nd March. You entered your room in the afternoon, spent the evening and the entire night in this room, without letting us know that something was not right. It is only on the 3rd of March late afternoon when you made contact with reception to inform that the minibar fridge is not working properly (without making any claims whatsoever that the room wouldn't have been in order the previous day when you checked in). Immediately after, Oana, my colleague from reception took action in order to sort out this technical matter. Due to the fact that indeed, the fridge had a malfunction, she went beyond her way and tried to help you out, she even offered to change the fridge to another one. Then, you began making accusations regarding the status of your room, implying that, a day before, when you checked in, the bedding was arranged in an unsatisfactory way. I can only disprove these allegations, ever since, I personally review on a daily basis the status of every room, and on 2nd March the room which was allocated to your booking was made up according to standards (the bed was properly made, linen and towels clean, freshly sanitized and washed). Nevertheless, to respect your wishes, Oana agreed to change your room. The room that she gave you was the only other available room, as on 3rd March the hotel was fully booked. If the only issue that you had was the room view, you simply should have informed us on 2nd March upon arrival about your preferences, then, we would have had a better liberty to swap around the rooms for you, since several other rooms were available at that time. I was made aware about your complaint and wanted to personally discuss this matter with you next day. We received from you no understanding or a chance to redeem ourselves, as you declined my invitation to discuss these aspects in person. None of us here at Alex & George Boutique Hotel can really understand your actions, nor why you never gave us a chance to make your stay an enjoyable one, as it could have been. Kind regards, Alina

Unless you get an apartment you are going to get a cemetery view. The rooms are nice furnished but cold and sometimes if you stay at 3rd or 4th floor there's no much hot water going to be left. The wifi signal unfortunately is very very low and cannot connect to internet.I have nothing good to say about breakfast either. It is very poor.I would state that the only thing good is the looks of the room.
