I stayed here last night for one night in room 401. The room was a good size, and had pretty much everything I could need, apart from a face cloth. Oh, and the two vanity set boxes in the bathroom were completely empty. I’m sure had I called reception they would have been replaced, but I didn’t bother as I didn’t need it. There was a mini bar in the room, although I couldn’t see a price list. Nice views from thr room, although the windows need cleaning as there were two large streaks of bird pooh on them. Free wifi is available and works well. The tv screen is a decent size and works well. There are 2 seats and a table which act as a little lounge area, however the seats and particularly comfortable to sit on in my opinion. Some tub chairs would be better. The choice at the bar is limited, and it closed early, at 10pm. No wine was available at the bar, only in the restaurant, and only red wine was available. I didn’t think the wine was very good. I prefer sweeter wine. Supper was ok, but I didn’t want 3 courses. When the waiter brought me my starter, I told him I didn’t want it, but he refused to take it away. It was still there when I had my main meal, but it was taken away by the time my pudding was brought to me. Again, I didn’t want pudding, but I wasn’t even going to bother arguing with the waiter, and just let him put it in front of me, even though I didn’t eat it.
I had a quiet night’s sleep, however it was lucky I had my sleep mask with me as there was a large green fire exit sign above the door which gave off an annoying green light. I need a completely dark room in order to sleep, and had I not had my sleep mask with me, this would have affected my sleep.

For sport events or the Untold festival it’s a hotel with a very good position. The staff could use some customer service related trainings. The restaurant services are very poor. The rooms are old, but have been partly reconditioned.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Napoca for 3 days as part of a larger delegation that arranged our accommodation there. Despite being an old hotel, it has been well renovated; the lobby, hall, restaurant, and bar all look new. The room was spacious, partially renovated, but comfortable and clean. The biggest issue was the level of service provided by the hotel staff. Upon entering the hotel, you are not greeted at reception, and the breakfast in the restaurant is very basic. Out of 4 waitstaff, only one young waitress made an effort to be attentive. The other old-school waiters do not speak English and communicate through gestures, which is quite uncomfortable. They do not but rather maintain the buffet and clean tables after guests finish. Nobody tries to bring you coffee or assist you when you ask for something. For example, when I requested hot water for my muesli, the waiter pointed to a thermos that had been sitting there for 2 hours, and the water was no longer hot. When I mentioned that to the waiter, he directed me to the coffee machine to wait in line and pour hot water myself. There is no option to have an omelet eggs made to order; breakfast choices are quite limited, with only bananas apples available. The coffee from the machine tastes terrible, so after breakfast, we decided to sit in the hotel lobby and order coffee from the bar. I received an Americano smaller than the cappuccino my husband was drinking and asked bartender to pour it into a larger cup with a bit more water because I prefer my Americano more diluted. He reacted aggressively, gave me a plastic takeaway cup to pour it myself, did not respond when I thanked him, and then started banging metal dishes loudly and expressing anger about my request. Then, a supervisor by speaking Romanian, and the supervisor kept saying calm down, calm down. Finally, a problem arose with the air conditioning, which stopped working on the last day before our departure. It even felt like the AC was heating the room to 30 degrees! We asked the housekeeper, who said another room had a malfunction, and since the ACs are connected, the entire horizontal line was not functioning. I would not stay at this hotel if it were not booked organized. The staff need serious training because, unfortunately, all the good and comfortable aspects (such as free and very convenient parking in front) are overshadowed by the subpar service of the employees who do not seem happy to serve guests.

My wife and I stayed twice at this hotel , August 2022 and August 2023 (Traveled from UAE). Perfect location next to Somesh River and across street from the Central Park, we stayed in a spacious suite on the 8th floor with a living area and second bathroom overlooking a very nice view of the Somesh River and the beautiful city of Cluj-Napoca. Breakfast was very good with a lot of varieties of food for every taste. Staff was friendly, kind and eager to please. We especially came to Cluj for a wedding which we attended on the second day of our arrival, party room of the hotel is amazing, everything was perfectly organized, food was very good and delicious . For sure we will come back to Cluj and stay at this hotel.

Very good location, spacious rooms and good parking. And that’s where good staff ends. Breakfast is poor. The staff do not seem to be interested in the needs of the guests. The staff at the reception does not offer any information or local maps, the service at the bar is very slow, .... you can notice that someone was in the room every day but room was certainly not vacuumed. There was trash from previous gest(s) remaining on the same place on carpet whole four days of my stay.

This is a very nice hotel near the city centre. Very clean and well furnished rooms, nice bathrooms with great shower pressure. Individual heating available and comfortable beds.
A nice breakfast was available with a lot of options, from scrambled eggs and bacon to cold cuts, veggies, pastry.
Bonus : great views from our rooms of the river and the nearby Central Park.

The congress had 700+ participants, for which this hotel was excellent. Nicely located just outside the city centre, with a walk through the central park. Breakfast "standard OK" but with a good omelet (not the usual uneatable stuff). Sleeping quality good. Some details typical for a slightly "dated" "grand hotel".

Good location, near the central park, the stadium and the arena.
The room was spacious, refurbished, but you can tell that it is an old hotel. It was clean and confortable.
The hotel has parking in front, no reservation needed.
I do not recommend the restaurant or the breakfast. Not many options and not very tasty ones.
But the lobby bar has good coffee selection.
