I stayed here as part of a tour group and while I cannot fault the hotel for it's location, the rooms were very old fashioned. However it was comfortable and the lobby was very grand. I had no problems with the Wi-Fi and the breakfast was decent.

British guests take note, there is no kettle in this hotel, although this seemed to be standard for Romania.

I would have no issues staying here again.

The Victoria was built in 1986 and still remains the property of the Romanian government. Their location in Central Cluj is fabulous, but I doubt there have been much in the way of renovation in the 30 years since it opened. The place is clean, but the mattresses are in need of changing and the furniture is dated. Still a decent value in the central city

The lobby gives the impression of being modern. However, the rest of the hotel is dated and tired. Staff try to be helpful. The room was cleanish; it took ages to get hot water in the bathroom. The breakfast was awful; the tea and coffee unbelievably bad. A guide on the free walking tour said that it was was of the few hotels that accepted pets! The lobby bar was not functioning. We arrived back one evening at 8.45 and wanted a drink. We were told to try the restaurant (where there is a small bar); the waiter jsut said: sorry; we close at 9. Would not recommend this hotel.

This hotel is very central but old and dusty.
The carpeting is worn and old, the mattress are all broken with springs hurting your back... And we changed 2 rooms for that reason, and no difference.
In the second room we changed the bathroom was stinking like trash every time I would turn on the fan.
This is the worst experience I have ever had.

An old hotel that has not been given proper maintenance.
Downtown location is most comvenient. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Rooms are decent size, baths are clean, if out of date. Plenty of hot water, shower does not leak onto the floor, everything works. Carpeting looks dirty, walls need washing and repainting. Beds are the worst I have ever slept in. You can feel the mattress springs all night long. If the carpeting was not dirty I would have slept on the floor.
Breakfast was adequate, unimpressive. The Victoria would be OK for a short stay if they installed new mattresses. In it's present condition I would not choose stay there again.

Except for the breakfast room, which did not change too much, the hotel is a former communist place refurbished to somewhat European standards at a fair price. And the location is almost unbeatable. Just around the corner of the Romanian cathedral, 2-3 minutes from the St. Michael catholic cathedral. Parking available upon request with reception desk.

this hotel is located in the very heart of the old town and city center of Cluj somewhere between the Catholic Church of Saint Michael's and the Orthodox Cathedral which form practically together with the statue of Mathias Rex ,the heart and center of the city; it is a hotel built during Communist time ,supposedly in the 1970's and I think it was used for the Party nomenklatura as nowadays it is the property of the company that manages all the properties of the so called state protocol assets; this is although not so important as the hotel is rehabilitated, the rooms are renewed and look decent for a three stars standard;the rooms and bathrooms are standard but clean and acceptable by all means;the hotel has 70 rooms and a large restaurant which I think is used for breakfast only as in the evening of my arrival, between 9 and 10 pm,there was nobody in the restaurant;breakfast is relatively basic at the lower level but acceptable;the big advantage of this hotel is it's excelent location right in the city center;nevertheless,I didn't see that the hotel has a parking, but I got lucky of finding a parking place in the side street alongside the hotel;as of rates, these are 30 Euro/night during weekdays and 22 Euro/night during weekends, which I find really very good ;if you're not looking for great confort and want to save some money too, this would be the right choice !
