Detailed Reviews
The Pension is located a 20 minute pleasant walk to the old town, cross over the famous Podul Elisabeta bridge, and sample the inexpensive Romanian cuisine.
Looking at Google travel I located the no 30 bus which brought me to heart of town.
Friendly helpful staff and an adequate breakfast. Being a Brit I like my sausage, bacon and eggs. There was a daily European continental spread but I've been advised that during the upcoming busy summer they're going to incorporate the former mentioned English fayre.
The rooms are inexpensive, and I enjoyed a comfortable 4 days I was there.I

No matter which way you look at it, you will never have seen a place like Deja Vu before! Unusual and individual, it's a small hotel / large guest house, about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Cluj, with Gaudi-inspired glazed pottery features adorning the walls! It ends up looking a bit like the house made from gingerbread in the Hansel and Gretel story, but this makes it more endearing.
The first thing to mention is the fantastic service throughout. A young, devoted and professionally-qualified team of staff go far out of their way to make you feel welcome, and are flawlessly polite and friendly. I arrived at 1am on my first night, and there were two staff on reception, looking fresh as daisies, waiting to greet me!
The room was fairly OK. Not plushly fitted out, but functional, with a well-stocked mini-bar and a very effective (and very necessary) air conditioning unit. I say necessary, because the only window in my room was a skylight on a horizontal 3-metre ceiling. I was a little disappointed that there was no BBC, but I then again, I hadn't gone there to watch telly.
The breakfast spread is OK enough, if you don't mind cold meats and cheeses with bread. The only thing I'd improve is the cooked breakfast, which is available in a metal buffet, but not topped up. A couple of lonely-looking sausages and a single egg never look that appealing.
But I'm being picky here. Overall, I had a great stay at Deja Vu, and I would definitely check in here if passing this way again.

Let's start with the location. Their website tells us that the pension(this joint is hardly a hotel) is located 5 minutes away from the center of the city. 5 minutes by taxi, that is. A walk from Deja Vu Hotel to the Center would take you 40 minutes if you know the city and 20 minutes if you take a bus. The location is pretty secluded, and there is nothing to see in this area.
Secondly, my husband and I reserved a double room that was described as having a king size bed. The room looked totally different than the one in the photos on the website and the bed wasn't a king size bed, there were two little beds joined together with two separate covers.
Needless to say, this arrangement wasn't comfortable at all for us, we could barely have some sleep on our first night(we had reserved 4 nights), partly because there was a gap in the middle of the bed(where the two little beds were joined) and because we had to cover ourselves with 2 separate bed covers.
The next day we asked the receptionist to change our room with the one that was shown in the picture when we were tricked into making reservation by the fake presentation, but she was very cheeky and disrespectful when she told us that we had to pay more if we wanted that room and that the bed we had, was indeed king size, practically calling us stupid. We asked for the manager who didn't want to speak to us at first, but after waiting for her highness for a half an hour on a Sunday afternoon. She was very rude to us, my husband and I said "hello" and introduced ourselves, but she wouldn't acknowledge my presence, like I wasn't there, before even saying anything about our issue. We explained our problem with the room and asked her for the room that was shown in the picture, the one we paid for. The pension was empty by the way, we were the only guests staying there and now I know why.
Finally, after telling us it is our fault we picked that room and that she is doing us a favor and we should be more careful next time, like there would be a next time. The fault belonged to them because they falsely promote their "hotel". We threatened to call the Romanian consumer protection institution and one minute later, we got what we paid for in the first place.
The TV screens are tiny, the TV in our first room didn't work at all, the bathrooms are tiny, you have to wait for five minutes for the water to get warm, the little fridge wasn't working either. Also, the service is terrible and the food is stale.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I stayed there for only two days, because I was really not happy. I moved to another hotel in cluj!
The staff were not qualified, the manager lady had to tell them what to do all the time!
They charged a lot for their internet! It's outrageous! There was another guest arguing as well with the manager about the cost for internet, it was embarassing!
Apparently, they think that if you are foreigner you have lots of money and you would pay for their poor services!
It's a rip off basicaly! Don't stay there!

First of all this is not a hotel, this is a villa, or a “pension”.
They called themselves “hotel déjà vu”, on the website where I booked my stay.
And it’s far from what 5 stars should be.
There are no 5 five stars hotels in Cluj, that’s for sure!!!
Their website seems like a pretentious arty-farty presentation of an old villa, which was once renovated in what they called art-nouveau style. I am not going to comment any of that, this place is a joke.
We were charged “mistakenly” for an extra bed, and if I didn’t go back and asked about it, they wouldn’t have mentioned anything.
The room was clean when we arrived.
However, it hadn’t been cleaned during our stay because, apparently they couldn’t find the key, which we basically left at the reception every morning.
The dinning room needs renovation, in my view. There was a persisting tobacco smell (in this supposedly non-smoking area), stale atmosphere. The food was al right but, again, so not 5 stars!
We’ve got a massive Internet bill, and you should watch out for that. They have an obscure system of counting how “much” Internet you’ve used (which they couldn’t explain).
The location is nice, the villa is in a very quiet area of the city, close to the central park, and the centre of the city. You need to walk about 20 minute to the nearest bus station though.
There are better hotels in Cluj for this price. Just do your homework, make your research :)

When you first see the location, you are stunned by it's appearance. But all is not what it seem once you get inside. The interior is quite dark. Not much natural light. The hallway to your room has a lighting on a sensor switch. Which switches the lights off after a very short time (have to be quick to open the door to your room before the lights go out). For a place that claims to be a 5* hotel, this is certainly not the case. The rooms are small and the hidden costs like the internet are very expensive. If you are on a business trip, this hotel would be an expensive stay.

We think this hotel is OK. Room is okay (clean and spacious), breakfast is okay (toast, different meats, cheese, eggs, bacon, yogurt, different coffees), location is okay (about 1 km away from downtown so little walk but not bad at all). It is not a fancy place, but for the price level we think it is all good. We would go again and recommend to anyone who visit Cluj and does not seek for a fancy hotel.

I was particularly impressed by the friendliness of your reception staff! They are a super team(a special mention goes to Anita). Then the Gaudi style of decoration, having already visited Barcelona I noticed that deco style immediately!!!
Well done to all!

+1
Very nice hotel in the middle (10 min) walk from Cluj center. The decoration is art nouveau inspired. Staff is very friendly and helpful 24-7 and the facilities are nice and clean. Although, a little worn here and there, fx. a loose handle etc. The hotel offers a traditional breakfast.
