I usually stay here while travelling solo.
It's a good option for time travelling; it reminds me of the old days in the communist era.

Yes, it looks far from what you'd expect from a hotel in 2016: old carpets, old furniture, etc

But the location is great, the value for money is amazing, the staff is friendly.

Furniture is old , yet the rooms are clean and spacious. As doors are old you can hear every step on the corridor . The Tv chanell offer is really poor and there is no bear offer in the freezer, The furniture in the restaurant is brand new but the menu needs a lot of improvemet . Staff is frendly and helpful though. You have free internet on second and third floor but thats all.

This is a relic of a time long gone. People used to go to the hotel sport to drink and smoke during communism and most of the same furniture was still there at the time. The staff is utterly useless, but it's the only hotel located in Central Park & some of the rooms offer beautiful views of the park. Breakfast is also better than at most hotels at double the cost. Due to its location and good price, I can't help but approve this hotel, in spite of it's very apparent drawbacks.

The hotel is terrible in every possible way. Rooms are dirty, stinky and in a terrible state. It is apparent that they are not cleaned and not maintained at all. Receptionists are unhelpful! Disgusting!

The hotel is located in the center of the town, near by the Central Park and Cluj Arena.-a very green area. with a lot of vegetation. The personal is kind and the rooms are clean. They are old fashioned but comfortable with Tv, telephone, fridge etc. No balcony or terrace. The breakfast is rich full of a lot of dishes.

We had to stay in Sport Hotel, because reservation in our originally booked hotel was canceled. Room and its equipment were like 30 years old. You can take more expensive, refurbished room if you want to, but I would rather prefer different hotel.

The male-waiters are extremely aggressive, impertinent and rude, they will ask money for breakfast and other services BUT NEVER GIVE YOU A RECEIPT- which means that your money go straight into their pockets (which is severely punishable under the Romanian laws). Especially avoid organizing big reunions here as in such cases they use some so-called lists of guests and, when they pretend that you don't appear on God knows what list of theirs, they begin asking money from you (though all of their services were paid in advance) ALWAYS WITHOUT GIVING YOU A RECEIPT. They also expect big tips...and let you know about this in every possible "subtle" ways. The rooms seem extracted straight from the 80's - all the furniture, carpets and equipment dates from that period. Pretty dirty (if you have high hygiene standards), pretty noisy (you can hear everything that goes on on the hallway - as if they were walking and talking in your very room), pretty decadent. The only good point bout this hotel is the location - a fabulous place with many park alleys where you can ride your bike, practice jogging or just take o lovely morning or evening walk in a highly modernized green area.

We stayed here while participating at a sports event. The location is ideal for events hosted at either Sala Polivalenta or Cluj Arena, it doesn't get closer that this.
The staff was nice, the hotel and room were clean (to be noted that we stayed in the renovated wing) and there were enough parking spots. Breakfast was decent and the refills were quick. The furniture in our room was a bit crowded and obstructed access to the wall sockets. The quilt was a bit undersized for a matrimonial bed but they offered extra blankets. The sound insulation was also a bit poor.
Indeed, you can see the hotel is old, but considering the location and the price it's good value for money.

This hotel had its glorious times under the former communist regime, but it failed to keep up with modernisation that obviously followed. So, for someone wanting to relive those times, or to approximately see how it was, this would be an appropriate choice. Otherwise, keep in mind that it's worn out, but cheep and with a great location.

Everything was perfect. The hotel is easy to find, being next to Cluj Arena. It is surrounded by a park and a beautiful lake.
We stayed there for a couple of nights .The hotel is old but very clean. I had a twin room which was very spacious; the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean.
Friendly staff, free wi-fi, free parking
Delicious breakfast; as a vegetarian I had a wide range of options such as boiled eggs, 2 types of scrambled eggs, fried eggs, fresh veggies: tomatoes, cucumbers, a great salad with cabbage and carrots which was actually my favorite, cheese, hard cheese, butter and jam, honey, 3 types of cereals , milk, toast bread, fresh fruit, even cake ( the traditional Romanian cake, cozonac); also plenty types of meat: sausages, salami, ham, etc
The only thing we didn't like was the smell of cigarettes inside the bedding
As a whole, I highly recommend this hotel
