I stayed here for 4-5 nights. It was a great location (a few blocks from Red Square), but very expensive (by my standards). Kids loved the pool/spa in the basement of the neighboring hotel after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast (included) was great. The pool and internet access, though, should have been included in the expensive price. Generally, the...

The bedroom and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and very quiet - the window faced a courtyard at the back. Our room happened to be right at the end of a very long corridor, quite a distance from the lifts, but that's not really a criticism. The staff at reception all spoke good English and were very friendly - the only...

What a relief from 5 days at other hotels in the Russian countryside! The Budapest is in a very nice location close to sights and many restaurants. The staff knew a good deal of English and was *very* helpful in everything I asked about (Wifi and arranging taxis). It is very clean and has an ornate old world feel while...

Hotel and old with poor air circulation. Left the windows open and got eaten by mosquitos. Beware, all rooms (including our kids room) have a bottle of vodka sitting on the dresser. Breakfast was mediocre. I don't have much knowledge of Moscow but you can probably do better than this.

I stayed at the Budapest Hotel in July 2010, when Moscow was suffering through its hottest summer in 150 years. Unfortunately, the hotel is set up more for sub-zero tempertures (double windows and thick walls) and the tiny air-conditioning unit struggled to keep the room cool. Apart from that, the hotel was perfectly adequate and clean with friendly staff and...

Check-in was easy as we had booked through Expedia. Plenty of sights within walking distance; particularly Red Square, and just over the Moscow river, Tretiakovsky Gallery. Our train didn't depart for St. Petersburg until 10pm, Saturday, and the hotel kindly let us leave our bags with them until evening. No problem. Breakfast was great; plenty of fresh salmon, fruit, oatmeal,...

I spent four nights here in September, over a weekend plus Monday night. The hotel was virtually empty until Tuesday morning at breakfast, when it appeared completely full. I got the impression that this is a business class hotel, not that there is anything wrong with that. The location is excellent. Several metros nearby, Red Square a 10 minute walk,...

The Hotel Budapest is located just behind the Bolshoi Theatre & is great for exploring Mosow on foot. However the hotel itself is rather depressing. The carpet in our bedroom looked very worse for wear with lots of black marks & stains. Dodgy gold coloured bedspread looked very nasty, but the sheets were clean, & the breakfast with its stale...

We were here during the 'volcanic ash' period which meant an unexpected extended stay and the unusual situation of eventually staying in 3 different rooms. One was OK, one was very good and one was magnificent, reflected in their relative prices (high, very high, and extremely high - but this is Moscow and the cost of this hotel is actually...

Excellent, large, old-world style hotel with good facilities and helpful and efficient staff. Double room had comfortable queen size bed, adjustable air conditioning (essential as the outside temperature was up to 34C), desk, separate table and chair area, minibar, room safe, bath/shower with all the standard bathroom facilities. Large windows, which could be opened, overlooked the quiet street passing the...

Staying in Tverskaya

Neighbourhood Profile
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
