Why terrible? 1-thin walls, sleeping impossible without earplugs, 2-nagging prostitutes every evening, 3-no minibar in the room, 4-uncontrolled room temperature, 5-poor quality breakfast. Generally - time stopped in the 70' The only good thing: location.

Mid range hotel with all this soviet style hotel attributes! Monuments, columns, in Russsia everything is big =) Its like a small trip back to USSR. Comfort rooms are biger and, yes, more comfy. Standards, are small. Service is a bit soviet. Location is great, inte end of Nevsky prospect near metro stations and main railway station. Night life is also...

Good but expensive hotel compared to its class. It is a very old hotel of St Petersburg. One can see employees resting & chatting in the lobby which feels strange. The lobby itself is very strange & very long. Metro is bang outside the gate. I struggled for vegetarian food here. Breakfast was good. Their USP is location.

I have lived in St. Petersburg for many years, (10 to be exact). I have had to return from time to time since then to tend to business. So I know the city and its better locations and services. This is the hotel I always return to. It has the old Russian feel with a magnificent facade, vaulted ceilings, marble...

The hotel is located nearby Moskovsky railway station and in a walking distance to Nevsky prospect. Hence, it is possible to explore Nevsky by walking or plunge into the city's cultural life by taking subway just across the street. The amenities and the facilities were okay. Furthermore, I can commend on the personnel of "Oktyabrskaya" without reservation, who were all...

Booked this hotel for our family trip to St. Pete on May 2016. No deposit required at booking. Plenty of rooms available. Recommend Junior Suite - it's just a little bit more expensive than standard but is bigger and has a big rollaway sofa in the living room. A full set of bathroom accessories available as well as the tea...

Definatly not fulfilling the western 4 star requirements. Ok, rooms are quite spacious and even quiet, despite off being next to busy street. Good point is the location, if you want to be around eastern end of Nevski, 2 metro lines are just across the street, shopping mall Galleria 5 min walk. I booked 2 night stay, but my room...

We stayed here for one night, having arrived on the evening high speed train from Moscow. The location (close to the station and the historic centre) was great. Room was excellent, plumbing a bit old fashioned but it all worked. Service was good and breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is well placed at Nevski Prospect, close to the railway station and in the middle of the city. The rooms are quite big and the beds might be a little bit soft for somebody, but ok for us! Nice personal, could mostly understand English. The breakfast is quite good, with some varied foods, but I wouldn't recommend the...

Nothing nice be in this hotel! A lot better others ones more in city centre and better prices. Looks like this hotel is for old people. Even the location is not really in city centre, you should walk a lot to arrive to the main city turist attractions.
