Good location near the train station and friendly staff, but if you book a private room, there is no lock. We returned to see a random girl (she was a guest not staff) playing her guitar in our room... One bathroom for the entire hostel, but amazingly it somehow works. It attracts a nice crowd of travellers.

Nerpa backpackers is a friendly small hostel just outside the centre of Irkutsk. It is not the easiest hostel to locate especially after a two day train ride! The best way of getting to Nerpa is to catch number 1 or 2 tram over the bridge (going to the right of the train station) and getting of on the first...

the hostel location is fine but little hard to find the hostel in first place because there is no any sign at the door. One toilet and one bathroom. No common room. However, Kattya, the staff is very nice ,friendly and helpful.

We chose this hostel because we love Nerpas, but we stayed because it was an awesome experience. The staff member helped us organize our trip to olkhon island, get a room there, change our train tickets, hung up our laundry, saved our sanity! Her name was Nadia, she is a saint. Only down side was not enough toilets. The common...

We stayed in a twin room which was very clean and roomy. The staff were excellent. The manager even apologised with a box of chocolates for missing our train pickup even though we had to only walk one tram stop. We visited lake Baikal overnight and were able to leave our bags safely in the hostel. Catherine even had a...

What a wonderful little hostel! Staff member Nadya who greeted us was incredibly friendly and helpful... we made some dumb travel planning mistakes and she totally "saved" our visit to Irkustk and Lake Baikal! Our dorm room was awesome...very big with couch, table and oversized comfy bean bag in the middle. Great for hanging out! Nice kitchen too. Shower was...

I can only compare staying at Nerpa to visiting a boys' digs at uni. Needs a good scrubbing, a lick of paint and you definitely want to wear flip flops in the bathroom but the environment is friendly. The hostel is in a small apartment about 20min fast walk, with a backpack, from the station. There is a good SPAR...

The staff was outstanding and the accommodations are clean and comfortable. The only set back is its a bit tricky to find. I would definitely stay here again. It was an easy walk to the center and shops and restaurants are just outside the door.

Having landed from Magadan in Irkutsk I managed to hop onto one of the decrepit public buses, which took me across the town to the opposite side of Angara river. Having negotiated a small path from the main road I found myself inside the cubicle of housing estate when the darkness fell. In the block on far right the Nerpa...

“The twin room is the choice room.”

“If you want your own room, you can "buy" out the double room (and still for a decent price). Make sure to email them directly if you want your own room and have booked on Hostel.com (sometimes the reservations get mixed up if they come through Hostel.com).”

“I stayed in a dorm, it is spacious and clean, not noisy at all.”

“They have only 2 rooms - one with 3 and one with 5 double beds. The bad thing is that one bed slams against the glass door between both rooms, every time someone moves inside this bed.”
