I was staying at the hotel during a conference. Everything was great, except the receptionist who can't speak english well. However, there was a translator from the conference who help me communicate with the people from the hotel. The strengths of the hotel was the scenery around it. It has a very beautiful lake, some artistic bridges, and many spots... More

I stayed here with my colleagues for around 10 days. Plus points are you get a lovely view from your room & there is ample walking space for joggers. Internet speed was ok. Food was good. Negatives are if you don't speak chinese, you might be in trouble. There is a karaoke bar nearby in a 5 minute walk. Overall... More

Probably the worst hotel i have stayed in China so far. I was here because of my brother's wedding. Wow, where do i start : The rooms were extremely dark (Only 2-3 dim lights for the entire room), no staff can speak English here, the hotel layout is confusing (I saw a few lost guests during my stay here !),... The looks on the staffs faces said it all as at reception there I was a Caucasian stood waiting to be served. Everyone tried to look busy and I could tell there was a look of, oh no am I going to get the White guy. Luckily for me another guest came to rescue us all as I tried so... More

The hotel is quite far from anything, it's literally at the end of a very long road, walking outside there is not even a convenience store. Only real way into town is via bus, we found most taxi drivers were unwilling to drive us back because it was too far. The restaurant food there is over priced and small servings,... More

This is by far the worst place I've ever stayed in: mosquitos in room, absolutely no AC, bed as hard as a board (not kidding). As a woman business traveler, I was most disturbed about the balcony door that didn't lock. The bottled water was cold, however, and the shower had great water pressure.

The Dianchi Garden Hotel & Spa in Kunming is totally unprepared for non Chinese speaking guests. As with Kunming itself, the tourism industry is geared up for a domestic market only so if you like to struggle over the bill, menus in the restaurant, long discussions on how to get your deposit back for your room keys or simply getting... the room we had was really huge, clean and nice...but the rest feels like a place for elder people been on a insurance paid rehabilition trip...the hotel is endlessly huge, that maybe the reason why the management seems not be capable to renovate as fast as needed to keep such a huge place intact without the customer seeing that a...
