The Hotel Granvia is located at Kyoto station. Easy to say that connections are very easy from here with buses, trains and underground.
High quality finishing and service.
Staff is well trained but occasionally there might be language barriers for english speakers
We would much prefer to stay in boutique hotels or apartments, but this hotel proved to be the exception in Kyoto.
1: Concierge service was invaluable. Service throughout - exceptional.
2: Transport to anywhere from here so easy - underground, railway, bus or taxi. With...More

My wife and I really enjoyed and appreciated this hotel during our first visit to Kyoto. The room was clean and fairly spacious, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets, although we unfortunately over-ate. The hotel...More
I stayed at the Granvia for one night on a stormy evening. The hotel is very comfortable and has all amenities. The service is impeccable and so is the cleanliness of the hotel. It is central since it is in the Kyoto station, which is...More

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

We had two separate rooms where our kids each had their own bed, but our kids are older. It would be more comfortable for you and your husband to have two Queen beds. Both kids can sleep together in one bed or one adult with one kid in each bed. If cost is a prohibitive factor, then try for at least 2 full sized beds. Happy travels. You will like the hotel. Staff was very nice and it is in a good location with quick access to public transportation. If you have time, go up the escalators on the opposite side of the hotel to the very top where there is a roof garden of sorts and get a big view of the inside of station area.

This is a beautiful hotel and all rooms are incredible. I had a superior deluxe and the bathroom was beautiful with walk in shower and separate bath tub. The But no hot tub. The Choraku Suites do have jacuzzi's but these are the highest level suite and very expensive. Regular suites do not have hot tubs or juzzuci's. Trip Advisor would not allow a link, but you can go to the hotel web site for more into. Enjoy this magnificant hotel in either case. The location is also incredible. This is probably the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in - certainly in the top 3.
