Beautiful peaceful place located in a beautiful village in kyoto. The food is good and you will enjoy the authentic dining room overlooking the beautiful garden. The rooms are simple & clean. The surrounding area is beautiful and take a walk to see the old temples near by.

-we travel at good visiting season- it is good in red maple season. price is quite expensive - traffic by bus is slow (> 40 stations from kyoto train station and take about 1 hour and 30 min and walking 20min from bus station.(if you have private car, it may less than half hour) - surrounding is comfortable and interesting-...

I booked this hotel based on one photo - of an outdoor onsen that looks like a nabe pot in the trees. The onsen was indeed very nice, and similar to the photo. Our room was very small - only 6 tatami - and old. The shared bathrooms are tiny. The food was good, not exceptional.

About an hour north of Kyoto on the bus. Didn't expect to go shopping but we found a small boutique shop with clothes, handbag, hats etc. We purchased a few items that were not seen elsewhere. The lady in the shop was very friendly but does not speak English. We had a Japanese friend so she was our interpreter. Oharanosato...

I stayed at Ohara No Sato in spring 2013. I initially wanted to stay at (very expensive) Ryokan in Kyoto centre but my booking got cancelled last minute. Ohara No Sato was the last ryokan with rooms for miles around so i reluctantly booked it. Wow,how lucky i was! The area is so beautiful, somewhere i would have never thought...

This ryokan was recommended to us by a Japanese family friend – she had stayed on several occasions, including taking non-Japanese friends. We contacted the ryokan via the website and had no problem corresponding by email in English to arrange our stay. We stayed 2 nights in early Oct, choosing one room with a private bathroom (there are two according...

I stayed at Oohara no Sato in pursual of an authentic onsen ryokan experience. Granted that this establishment is closer to a Minshuku rather than a Ryokan, this added a more homely feel. We arrived by bus to the Oohara bus stop and got picked up by the driver. We were shown to our room which was thankfully located on...

The location, one hour away from Kyoto Station, is very scenic and offers a nicer weather that is slightly cooler than Kyoto. I arrived at Ohara Station and, failing to find the way with my hand-drawn map, called them for help; after 15 minutes someone came to pick me up (free of charge). The room was spacious and bright, and...

Very nice Onsen hotel. We arrive Ohara by bus and along our way there are cherry blossoms in full bloom. Walk from the station to the hotel takes about 15 minutes (or you can contact the hotel for pick up). It is not a luxurious onsen hotel but more like a place to getaway for the locals. Enjoyed the onsen...
