The ryokan is conveniently located in a quiet street behind the Kyoto Tower opposite the main railway station. Traditional rooms are the size of 7,5 tatami mats which is about 13 m2 plus a unit bath and a seating area. However, staying at a ryokan is not about accommodation but food. The dinner we were served was quite spectacular, consisting...

This location is superb!! They provide the topnotch service. since it seemed to be an aged ryokan, hence, we are sleeping on tatami. I am bringing elderly with me, yet, they helped with the beds every single night. Language is never a barrier to whom who has passion about their work. Thanks Hifumi for your offering us the most wonderful...

Very traditional, exceptional friendly service. Great location close to station. They transformed room by setting up futons while we were out for dinner. Only stayed one night - fun to experience, and glad we did, but wouldn't want to stay longer. No room for luggage as we didn't want to put bags on tatami mats. Pillows were very uncomfortable. Wouldn't...

We were overjoyed at our room. Also would like to mention their service was excellent and location was walkable from Kyoto train station and a bus station was nearby as well. It scored well on all aspects. We really enjoyed our time here.

5 mins walk to Kyoto station. Nice food and people. Small room but just nice for 4 of us. No view from the room, quite expensive comparing to normal hotel around the vicinity. You can have your private bath in your room or go for public bath. Overall a wonderful experience as this is my first Ryokan stay.

This Ryokan has a little big Japanese style shared bathroom. You can feel Japanese traditional atmosphere here. When we had some problems, stuffs came to our room and treated politely. I didn't eat here, but had a good time here. Also they have enough amenities.

Support towards the employee was very polite . The rooms had been very nicely renovated . I was very fond of quaint mirror that is provided in the room . Bathing felt a little dated . Shampoo on the bath field can use freely. Please bring your own if you have put shampoo do not...

Try booking a ryokan in Kyoto in March for the month of April. It is NOT easy. Hifumi Ryokan was one of the only places with space (partly b/c they aren't on booking.com). The hotel has a person on staff who speaks fantastic English so it was easy enough booking via email. We were pleasantly surprised with the ryokan. It's...

My boyfriend and I wanted to see the Sakura (cherry blossoms) in April last year. We book our stay by E-mails with the ryokan (inn). The e-mail reply was efficient and very clear. They offer us a room on the second floor, which was great, spacious, and clean. Very traditional Japanese rooms. Wifi was strong. Very good value and great...

The hotel actually is five minutes from the train station and the place most city busses start out from. Four of us did fit the smaller room but the ten tatami room would have been more comfortable but were not available when we booked. Bathrooms are small but there is a spacious public bath, Japanese style, on the ground floor....
