I’m a fan of staying near stations as I use public transport in a lot of destinations.
This hotel did not disappoint in location and quality.
Straight out the back of Kyoto Station, it’s easily accessible. I had a room on the front side (facing the station), zero noise.
Reception staff fabulous.
Breakfast, included, but mediocre.
Serves a purpose and you can get your toast, coffee, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and some random other choices. It’s basic but it’s good.
Rooms a decent size, I booked a standard room with Queen Size Bed
Guest laundry available, only 2 machines and 2 drivers but no need to soap as it auto dispenses. Just have some ¥100 coins with you.
Able to send your luggage takkyubin as well.
Nothing to fault here.
Great little hotel that I’ll be coming back to.

We stayed four nights here with our 12 year old grandson and the hotel kindly organised adjoining standard queen rooms for our stay. Rooms were pretty good size, functional and comfortable. We loved the view of Kyoto station and the Shinkansen trains that are contantly moving through the station. Absolutely no noise with windows shut and they do open for some fresh air (even in cooler December this was welcome.) Included breakfast was good and our grandson was wrapped in his bottom-less cups of hot chocolate. Would certainly stay again on next visit to wonderful Kyoto. Front office staff were great

I recommend you book here for traveller strongly. As I have lived in Kyoto, I make sure of the better points than the other hotels. This time I stayed here as business trip 3nights.
Hotel location is best place for the travellar. It is very easy to access from Hachijo guchi. You can see this hotel from this station entrance. I visited here from Airport bus pick-up point. The distance is near than I suppose though I know this place.
Staffs are very nice. Especially, cleaning staffs work as hardworking and they gave greetings with smiles. I felt well and return the greetings also.
Reception staff are Japanese and foreigner also. They can speak in English and Japanese. But I was at a loss with supprised when foreiner staff talked me with Japanese.
Room is cleaned well everyday. Especially the bath is good. Because the bath and toillet are made in TOTO. The bath floor is technologizal floor type. So the water is easy to remove and not slippy. Toillet has the washlet, of course.
Lights are well, not too blight and too dark. You can change the blightness on several lights.
Laundry is well as usual in Japan. You don't need to prepare the laundry soap, 300yen, and Drying is 100yen/ 30min.
Room on station side is avalable to see the Shinkansen easily.
But it is not noisy. It is fun for the boy if you stay here with your son.
I didn't have the food at hotel. Everyday I bought the morning food at AEON mall KYOTO. It is located with 5min walks. You can choice many foods, goods with cheap.

The Ibis Styles was a perfect jumping-off point for our school group to explore, as it is across the street from Kyoto Station. The rooms are typically sized for Japan, but well appointed, and the breakfast buffet, while also in a smaller room, met our needs perfectly. The staff was smart and accommodating, and we highly recommend this hotel!

Good hotel, good location, very near to the JR Kyoto Station, you can simply walk for 5 minutes from the exit gate. Being close to the station, you have access to everywhere in the city by subway. 1 only problem: there are simply not enough laundry machines in the hotel.

Dear david5757, Thank you for sharing your experience with ibis Styles Kyoto Station. We are pleased to hear that you liked our location! It is true that Kyoto Station is just across the street from our hotel. Subway takes only 5 minutes to get to the city central and Kyoto Station has easy access to lots of major tourist attractions by JR as well. We apologize that our laundry facility was too compact. We understand that this should be taken to the consideration when further plans are done to renovate the hotel. Your feedback is much appreciated and looking forward to welcoming you again on your next journey. Sincerely, Saki Inoue Front desk ibis Styles Kyoto Station

The reception staff member was OK but just going through the motions. Our room (910) was reasonable in size and had a comfortable mattress and pillows. The bathroom was fine and the shower good. The room was way overheated (for November) even on the lowest setting. The window seemed to indicate that it could be opened but I could not figure it out. The window faced the train station and the door faced the lift. While the room was quiet enough, I suspect it may not be during busy times. The breakfast was rather ordinary and it felt a little like a boarding school canteen. The hotel’s best attribute was that it was literally a walk of only 2-minutes to the train station.

Dear AlexMaz, Thank you for sharing your experience with ibis Styles Kyoto Station. We are glad that you found our location so convenient for your travel needs. As you mentioned, we are very close to the Kyoto station. Also it is a pleasure to hear that you liked our room and facilities during your stay. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused due to the heating/air conditioning system you have experienced during your stay. This hotel has a Japanese typical air conditioning system (central air), which is managed collectively in the whole building, and does not function independently like the ones in each home. We understand that this should definitely be taken to the consideration when further plans are done to renovate the hotel. Please rest assured your feedback will be shared with the team since it is very important for us to give every effort to make sure our customers have a comfortable stay in our hotel and feedback such as yours is very much appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit. Best regards, Saki Inoue Front desk team leader ibis Styles Kyoto Station

Good location opposite Kyoto Station so with our JR pass it was a breeze to visit all the landmarks of Kyoto including a day trip to Nara. The rooms are basic but clean. There is a tea/coffee vending machine in the lobby which one can use if you are an IHG member but please provide milk sachets for tea as we don’t always like to have black tea. The staff is warm and courteous. The only problem and that’s why the 3 rating is the room size. We were a group of 7 and had booked 4 double rooms and it is just not good enough for 2 adults with large suitcases. There is just no space to move around in the room if you have your bags open. This hotel is best for a solo/backpack kind of travellers. Families can look for other option.

We are used to the Ibis brand but not the ibis styles brand and it is a little different. The rooms were clean but small, breakfast was ok, but not the usual Ibis standard. The location is fantastic for exploring Kyoto and there are sever good restaurants in the vicinity, and may excellent ones in the station complex.

We were booked into Ibis Styles Kyoto Station hotel for eight nights, but sadly, due to the Corona Virus, had to return to Australia after only two days instead of our planned eight days stay at the hotel. The reception staff were outstanding, notably team leader Gunbichi Morioka and his excellent assistant Rina Moriaoka who both spent considerable time, including a free call to Australia, to help us arrange an earlier return to Melbourne. On top of that, the hotel is giving us a refund for the days paid for but not spent there. What other hotel would do that!?! This is a budget hotel, with small rooms. I believe we had one of the two larger rooms -- 26 square metres, so we cannot vouch for the other smaller rooms. But hey this is a budget hotel with a good bathroom and comfortable twin beds. The hotel provides breakfasts, but we chose to buy in from nearby cafes. And the hotel provides excellent complimentary coffee for Accor Plus members. Ibis Styles is so close to the transport you need to get around Kyoto. We plan to return to the hotel when the virus is vanquished.

Booked 2 rooms for 4 adults. The location is very convenient. Kyoto station is across the street, 7 eleven and MK taxi stand at back. K
Avanti Mall with Don Quixote and drugstores around in case of emergency OTC needs or personal supplies needs. The room is small which is typical of Japan hotels. Reception and cleaning staff all very nice and friendly. Room rate also very reasonable. We were out most of the day and only there for rest.
If you prefer bigger rooms there are other places you can book and more often a case of you get what pay for and comes with price tag. We booked Ibis for the location, cost, and comfort of sleeping quietly at night (yes close to station but walls and windows are thick). Overall would recommend and will stay here again.

That you need to contact the hotel to acquire for info. It’s out of my knowledge!
double bed in Japan usually sizes at 1.5 meter width
As far as I know, all hotels of note will provide this service. Our luggages were safely forwarded from
Nagoya when we went trekking in the mountains. You need to book this service in advance and note their collection times.
All the best
I stayed in economy single. We had smart phone which you can use. Includes breakfast. If you’re Accor club member you get free tea & coffee in lobby . Otherwise you pay 100 yen for the refreshments. Can’t remember about water , maybe get your own. The breakfast is very healthy so good 😊 if you’re weight watching. See my review. There’s no tea or coffee making facilities in economy room. So you can’t boil water either. The normal economy room which my kids stayed in is same size as single room. Less space as there’s a double bed there. But if you’re touring you won’t be in the room.
